Euro Truck Simulator 2, usually called ETS2, is a driving game built around big trucks. Every truck in it is the vehicle you drive to haul trailers, and each one recreates a real-world model from brands like DAF, Scania and Volvo. Knowing how to buy, customize and set up a truck helps you pick the one that fits the kind of driving you want to do.

Truck Brands and Models in Euro Truck Simulator 2
The trucks come from DAF, Iveco, MAN, Mercedes-Benz, Renault, Scania and Volvo. They're licensed, and the game recreates each one closely with help from the licensing partners so it drives much like the real thing. That makes it easy to find a brand you like and then compare the models it offers.
Some model names appear more than once, and that's intentional. Newer and older generations, or different emission standards, each get their own entry, like the MAN TGX, MAN TGX Euro 5 and MAN TGX Euro 6, or the Scania R and Scania R 2009. Check the full name and the emission standard before you pick one, so you know exactly which version you're getting.
How to Buy a Truck in Euro Truck Simulator 2
You buy trucks from dealers. Press the truck dealer button on the main control panel, and the dealers you've discovered will show on your map. Pick one, choose "visit selected dealer," and use the arrows to flip through the models it has available.
Take a moment with each model before you spend money. The screen shows chassis, power, torque and price, so you can weigh one truck against another. When you find the one you want, use configuration customization to set it up, then click purchase.
Truck Customization in Euro Truck Simulator 2
Before you buy, you can set up a truck to suit how you drive. You choose the cab size, the chassis, the engine and the transmission, and what's on offer depends on the model. Not every truck gives you the same choices, so the options on one may look different on another.
Cabins come in different sizes and styles, from plain day cabs to sleeper cabs. On top of the main choices, there's a long list of cosmetic extras, including paint jobs, mirrors, side skirts, light setups and bull bars. These let you give the truck your own look.
Axles and Chassis: What Extra Axles Change
Most trucks start with one driving axle at the rear. That setup gives the highest top speed and the quickest acceleration when you run empty or carry light cargo, up to about 12 tons. Chassis choices are shown as short labels like 4x2 or 6x4, and the options change from model to model, so check each truck's own list.
Some trucks can also run two or three driving axles. More axles add stability, but they shrink the fuel tank and slow the truck down. Lift axles are the fix when you're carrying lighter cargo, since you can raise or lower them as you drive. Lifting the rear axle makes the truck more agile for sharp turns, while lifting the middle one keeps it steadier at higher speeds. Keep in mind that lift axles also cut fuel tank capacity.
Some models also offer steerable axles, which come with the Heavy Cargo add-on. They help with heavy loads on rough ground, like leaving a mine or climbing a mountain with lots of turns. A three-axle setup suits cargo of about 60 tons, and in that setup the fuel tank moves to the back of the cab.
Choosing an Engine for Your Truck
Each truck offers a range of engines, and power is the number that matters most. More power lets a truck haul heavier cargo, and it also gives the truck a higher top speed and quicker acceleration. Most trucks have a wide spread of engines, and your character's level is usually what decides which ones you can use.
Electric Trucks and Quick Jobs in ETS2
The DAF XF Electric, Scania S BEV and Renault E-Tech T are electric models, and they work differently from the rest when it comes to getting one. They're offered only on the game's preset Quick Jobs, so you can't add one to your own fleet.
They sit among the other models, so it's easy to assume you can find them at a dealer. If you want to drive one, watch for it on those Quick Jobs instead.
FAQ
Does the cabin change how a truck drives in ETS2?
No. The cabin only changes how the truck looks. Each brand has its own cabin parts, so the choices vary from one maker to the next.
Which truck has the most power in Euro Truck Simulator 2?
The Volvo FH6 has the highest engine power listed, at up to 780 hp. The Scania R and Scania S come next at up to 770 hp, so the gap between them is small.
Can I trade in my truck for a different one?
Yes, at a dealer you can use the swap option to exchange your truck for a new one. You pay an extra sum of money to do it.
