All 41 Fourth Weapons and How to Get Them in Dynasty Warriors 3 Remastered

Updated on November 1, 2026 (3 days ago)

Fourth weapons, often called 4th weapons, are rare weapons in Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered, an action game where you lead one officer through huge battles. Every officer from the original roster has a unique fourth weapon with fixed stats, and each is harder to get than the weapons enemies usually drop. You earn one by meeting a set condition in a specific battle, on a specific side, and collecting the whole set is a long-term goal across the Wei, Shu, Wu and Other groups.

What Fourth Weapons Are and How They Work

Weapons in this game come in five levels, and every character starts with a level 1 weapon, which adds the least damage. Fourth weapons sit at level 4, above the weapons enemies usually drop, and each officer from the original roster has one unique fourth weapon. Ordinary weapons can come with random traits, but a fourth weapon's stats are fixed, so you know exactly what it gives you.

Most fourth weapons also come with an element, which adds extra damage to your character's final charge attack. You can't count on random enemy drops for these. Each one only shows up when you meet the condition for its own battle.

The weapons are sorted into four groups. Wei, Shu and Wu match the three kingdoms, and Other covers officers outside them, such as Lu Bu, Dong Zhuo and Meng Huo.

What You Need to Earn a Fourth Weapon

Set the game to Hard difficulty or higher before you start. Easy and Normal never give out a fourth weapon, even when you complete its condition, so there's no point trying on those settings. Musou Mode, the story mode, and Free Mode both work. Free Mode is the faster choice for repeat tries, since you pick the stage directly instead of working through the story to reach it.

You also need to play as the officer who owns the weapon. Pay attention to your army as well. On battles shared by two sides, each side unlocks a different weapon, and the wrong side never produces either one. At Mt. Dingjun, for example, Xiahou Yuan's weapon goes to Wei and Huang Zhong's goes to Shu.

How to Collect a Fourth Weapon

Most fourth weapons appear as a fixed item. Once you meet the condition, the weapon shows up at a set spot on the map and waits there until you pick it up, so you can take your time getting to it.

Some are carried by an enemy supply unit instead. The unit follows a set route toward another gate captain, the enemy officer posted at a gate, and it retreats at the end of that route with the weapon still on it. Defeat the unit's captain before it gets away, because that is how you claim the weapon.

Why Fourth Weapon Attempts Fail

The biggest trap is breaking a condition without noticing, because the attempt is void and you have to start over. Check the requirements for your weapon before you load the battle, not halfway through it.

Failures usually come down to a few things. Some battles need every gate captain on both sides to survive, so losing one ruins the run. Others depend on timing. At Fan Castle, for example, the flood makes Xu Huang's Marauder vanish if it arrives before you grab the weapon.

Other officers can matter too. At Guandu, Zhang He's weapon needs Yan Liang and Wen Chou still standing when the Wu Chao supply depot burns.

Which Fourth Weapons Matter Most

If you plan to play on Chaos difficulty, Lu Bu's Sky Scorcher and Xu Zhu's Stone Crusher are the ones to aim for, since they share the highest base attack in the set at 50.

FAQ

Q.

Do I need Chaos difficulty to get fourth weapons?

No. Hard difficulty is enough to earn any fourth weapon. Chaos is only required for fifth weapons, which are a separate set, so you can finish the fourth weapon collection without it.

Q.

Is there an achievement for fourth weapons?

Yes. Your first fourth weapon unlocks the A New Blade achievement.
