Dynasty Warriors 3 Complete Edition Remastered is an action game set in the Three Kingdoms, where you play one officer against massed armies. Fifth weapons are its one-of-a-kind top weapons, and each belongs to a single officer and comes with its own element and base attack. You earn one by meeting a set condition in a specific battle on Chaos, the game's top difficulty, and collecting them all is the game's toughest weapon goal.

What Are Fifth Weapons in Dynasty Warriors 3 Remastered?
Fifth weapons come from Xtreme Legends, the expansion that introduced them, and the remaster brings them back. They're split into four groups: Wei, Shu, Wu and Other. Each one belongs to a single officer, so you have to play that officer to earn it. The Other group covers the officers who don't belong to Wei, Shu, or Wu, such as Lu Bu, Diaochan, and the mythical Fu Xi and Nuwa.
How Fifth Weapons Work: Elements and Attack Power
Every fifth weapon has two main traits: an element and a base attack value. No element and Fire are the most common, followed by Lightning and Wind, while Death is the rarest.
Death works differently from the rest. A Death hit defeats regular soldiers in one hit and does percentage-based damage to officers. On Chaos, element counts for more than raw numbers, so check a weapon's element before you look at its attack.
How to Get Fifth Weapons on Chaos Difficulty
Chaos is the only difficulty that spawns fifth weapons. Easy, Normal, and Hard never produce one, even when the condition is met, so set the game to Chaos before you start. Then play as the officer who owns the weapon and pick the army side listed for it.
The side matters because some stages give each army its own weapons. Siege of Hefei Castle and Battle of Yiling work this way, so the same battle can offer different fifth weapons depending on your side. The original and Xtreme versions of a stage share a map but not their fifth weapons, and Free Mode tags Xtreme stages with an "Xtreme" label so you can pick the right version.
Both Musou Mode (the story mode) and Free Mode work for this. Free Mode is the better choice for retries because you pick the stage yourself.
Fifth Weapon Conditions and Why Attempts Fail
Each fifth weapon comes with a condition, and most fall into one of three kinds. The first is an exact order, where you defeat specific generals in a set sequence, and some are strict enough that one out-of-order defeat ends the attempt. The second is a time limit, such as five minutes for Cao Cao's weapon or two minutes for Zhou Yu's.
The third depends on a story event happening first, like a general switching sides, a general being surrounded, or a general falling, so the battle has to reach that point before the condition can be met. A few are simple tallies, such as Zhuge Liang's, which asks for 1,000 KOs (enemy defeats). Before each attempt, open the Unique Weapon Unlock Conditions screen in stage preparation, which lists the requirements for each stage so you know the order before the battle starts.
Where to Find Fifth Weapons on the Map
Each fifth weapon appears at a fixed spot on its stage's map, and that spot doesn't change. You can finish the condition first and then walk over to pick it up. Your first fifth weapon also unlocks The Ultimate Blade achievement.
Which Fifth Weapons Matter Most
If you're building toward Chaos, start with the Death weapons: Mystic Fang, Heavenly Wolf, and Black Steel. An early Death weapon speeds up every later Chaos run. For raw base attack alone, Earthly Mace and Demon Slayer lead at 50, with Beast Axe and Divine Dragon close behind at 49.
FAQ
Are fourth weapons and fifth weapons the same?
No. Fourth weapons unlock on Hard and above, and Easy and Normal never give one, while fifth weapons only appear on Chaos. Some fourth weapons are carried by an enemy transport unit that retreats with it, so you have to defeat that unit before it leaves. Fifth weapons have no carrier, so there's nothing to chase.
Why didn't my fifth weapon appear after I finished the battle?
Some conditions are unforgiving about small details, and missing one can stop the weapon from appearing. For Blue Grace, you have to defeat Yan Baihu and Wang Lang without either of them ending the stage. For Half Moon Flute, the right supply depot is the fourth one you search, so finding it sooner ends the run.
Which fifth weapons come from Xtreme stages?
Two Wei weapons, Zhang Liao's and Zhang He's, come from Xtreme stages. So do most of the Other group, and Fu Xi and Nuwa are the only Other weapons from original stages. Every Shu and Wu fifth weapon comes from an original stage.
