In Cassette Beasts, every monster is carried on a cassette tape, and the stickers on that tape decide which moves it can use in battle. Each sticker holds one move, so changing what a monster can do is mostly a matter of swapping stickers. Stickers come in different types, can carry extra effects called attributes, and can be moved from one tape to another. Knowing how they work makes it much easier to build a monster that suits the way you play.

How Cassette Beasts Stickers Work in Battle
Every move falls into one of four groups: melee and ranged attacks, which deal damage, status effect moves, which put a condition like poison or sleep on the target, and miscellaneous moves, which change the battlefield in other ways. Each move also lists a type, a power number, an accuracy percentage, and an AP cost. AP is short for Action Points, and each party member gains 2 AP per turn, so spending it on expensive moves takes some planning.
How to Swap Stickers on a Tape
You can add or remove stickers on any tape you own, but only outside of battle. To replace a move, peel off the sticker you don't want. That frees up an empty slot, which you can fill with a different sticker.
Not every tape can use every sticker. Each species has its own set of stickers it's allowed to use, so a move that suits one monster may not be available to another. When two tapes fuse in battle, though, the fused form gets the moves from both.
How Many Stickers a Tape Can Hold
Slots are the spaces on a tape where stickers go, so they set how many moves a tape can use at once. Each species has its own number of slots, and a sticker with the Extra Slots attribute adds one more while it stays equipped.
Empty slots aren't wasted, either. Several attributes boost a move for each empty slot on its tape, such as damage, accuracy, or critical hit chance, so leaving room can help some moves hit harder.
How to Get New Stickers
Tapes gain new stickers automatically as they're upgraded through battle, and the ones they get depend on the tape's species. Stickers are also scattered around the overworld in various places, so it pays to explore.
Peeling a move off one of your own tapes gives you that sticker, so you can put it on another tape. That makes spare stickers worth hanging on to.
Sticker Types, Typeless Moves and Glitter
Every move has a type, such as Fire, Water, or Air, and that type affects how well it works against a given target. Some matchups add a buff or a debuff, and a few even change the target's type for a while.
Typeless moves are the exception. Basic moves like Smack and Spit take on the type of whichever monster uses them, so a Fire-type tape's Smack hits as Fire and a Water-type tape's Smack hits as Water.
Glitter is the strangest type of all. No monster starts out as Glitter. A monster only gains the type when it's hit by a Glitter-type attack such as Glitter Bomb.
Sticker Attributes Explained
Attributes only show up on uncommon (green) and rare (blue) stickers. A green sticker carries one or two uncommon attributes, while a blue one carries one rare attribute plus one or two uncommon ones.
Uncommon attributes include extra hits, healing, and longer status effects. Rare attributes go further, such as a chance to refund AP after a move, a chance to use a move at the start of battle, or a chance to target the whole team.
A sticker can carry up to three attributes, and each one has to suit the move it's on. The same attribute can't appear twice. Most stat boosts multiply with each other rather than adding up, so stacking them can make a bigger difference than it first seems.
Which Stickers Are Worth Keeping
Attributes can matter as much as raw power. The Compatibility attribute lets a sticker work with any tape, which helps because each species can only use a set of stickers.
Power alone can also mislead. Stab In The Dark hits for 100 power, but its accuracy is only 10%, so it lands about one time in ten. It's worth checking a sticker's type, attributes, and accuracy alongside its power before you commit.
FAQ
How rare are green and blue stickers?
By default, a new sticker has about a 5% chance of being uncommon and about a 1.25% chance of being rare.
What's the strongest sticker in Cassette Beasts?
Going by listed power, Headshot and Last Rites are the highest at 200 power each, and both cost 10 AP to use. Fusion Power can also reach 200, but only fusions can use it and its power depends on the pairing.
What's the difference between active and passive moves?
Active moves use up one of the tape's turns when you pick them. Passive moves trigger on their own during certain battle events.
What happens to stats and status effects when two tapes are fused?
The fused monster's stats are combined from both tapes, and status effects carry over too.
