All 19 Archangels and Where to Find Them in Cassette Beasts

Updated on November 1, 2026 (3 days ago)

Archangels are powerful bosses in Cassette Beasts, and you fight them across the main story, the post-game and the Pier of the Unknown DLC. They fight differently from ordinary monsters, saving up for one big attack that can't be dodged. It helps to know how that works before you step into a battle.

What Archangels Are in Cassette Beasts

Archangels usually hide beneath the Mer-Line stations of New Wirral. The name goes back to the first arrivals on the island, who called every monster an angel. Once people learned that monsters could be beaten, they dropped the word for most of them, but they kept "Archangel" for the strange, powerful ones. It means the highest rank of angels.

How Archangel Battles Work

Most monsters spend their AP as they go, using it to pay for moves. Archangels do the opposite. They hold onto their AP until it reaches 10, then spend it on an Angelic Attack that can't be dodged.

Because they're saving up for one big hit, waiting them out isn't a plan. Keep an eye on how much AP they're holding, and plan your turns around the moment they reach 10. They can also use more than one move in a single turn, so don't assume a turn is over after one action.

How to Deal With Angelic Attacks

A wall can stop an Angelic Attack. If one is up when the attack lands, no damage gets through, but the wall is destroyed on the spot. That means each wall covers only one attack, so keep another one ready as the meter gets close to 10.

Archangels resist a few specific moves, but Sleep, Petrified, Booby Trapped and Flammable still land on them. Don't skip status moves just because the enemy is an Archangel.

Finding the Main Story Archangels

Morgante is the first Archangel you fight. You'll find her injured at Harbourtown Station, and the battle forces a fusion partway through, so it doubles as an early lesson in how fusion works.

Archangels generally lurk beneath Mer-Line stations, and beating them is required for Morgante's Land of Confusion quest. Each station has its own puzzles to solve before you reach the Archangel inside, and each one you beat gives you another piece of a song.

Post-Game Archangels and Rematches

Once the main story is finished, a few more Archangels open up. Helia is part of the post-game Here Comes the Sun quest, and you fight her at Power Station. Lenna can be fought after the main story too. She appears on the overworld as a black-cloaked figure, and that fight only happens once. She's a character from Bytten Studio's earlier game, Lenna's Inception.

Morgante has a second fight after the story, back at Harbourtown Station. Beating her there is what opens rematches with the other Archangels.

Pier of the Unknown Archangels

The Pier of the Unknown DLC brings its own set of boss fights around Brightside Pier. Pearl, Raven and Rose are the three Infernal Engines, and each one is found in a different part of the DLC. Gwenivar is the final Pier fight, and she only becomes available after all three Engines are beaten.

FAQ

Q.

Are the Infernal Engines Archangels?

The game calls Pearl, Rose and Raven the Infernal Engines, and the bestiary lists them in the same group as the Archangels, so you'll find them there alongside the others.

Q.

Can you find Archangels in Magikrab's Gauntlet?

Yes. Lenna and the three Infernal Engines can turn up there at random as mid-run bosses, and the Gauntlet is the only way to fight Lenna again after her overworld battle.

Q.

Are Archangels immune to status effects?

Not entirely. They're immune to moves like AP Steal, Sticker Trick, Guzzle Fuel, Hypnotise, Snooze Spore, Stony Look and Gasoline Spray.
