What Skins Are and How They Match Units
A skin is an alternate outfit made for one specific unit. Its name shows which unit it belongs to, followed by a theme in brackets, like Ruki (Summer) or Pito (Halloween). Each skin is designed around its own character, so it only fits that unit.
How Skin Capsules Work
Skins in these sets come from capsules, which are limited items you open for a random reward. Each capsule costs a currency tied to its event, and it can drop skins, limited units or both. That's why the event you're in matters: a capsule you can't buy now usually belongs to an event that has ended.
The skins sort into four tiers: Rare, Epic, Legendary and Mythical. Rare skins come up most often, and Mythical skins are the hardest to pull.
Haunted Star and Spooky Star
The Haunted Star and Spooky Star are Halloween capsules bought with Candies. Each one holds a set of Halloween-themed skins along with a few exclusive units.
Frozen Star and Icy Star
The Frozen Star and Icy Star are holiday capsules bought with Stars in the event shop. Both drop skins, and they can also give you mythic units, such as Siren from Icy Stars.
Summer Stars and Summer Skins
Summer Stars cost Pearls at the Summer Shop, and each one can give you limited-time summer skins or units. Summer skins increase damage and drops, and some of them raise the drop rate of Pearls, the summer event currency.
Those boosts are tied to the summer event, so they matter most while that event is running.
Demon Academy Star
The Demon Academy Star is a limited capsule from Update 12. It was sold by Issai for Demon Academy Symbols, the currency that update used.
How to Equip a Skin
Start by unequipping the matching unit. Next, open Items on the left side of the screen and switch to the Skins tab, which holds every skin you own. Pick the skin, press Use, and then choose the matching unit to wear it.

Where do you get Pearls?
Summer daily missions give you Pearls. Duplicate skins also help, because deleting an extra copy of a summer skin gives you Pearls, which you can spend on more Summer Stars.
What else are Stars used for?
Stars also buy evolution items for the event's Mythic and Secret units, so they aren't only for capsules.
