Red Dead Redemption 2's named outfits come from four places: general stores and tailors, the Trapper, challenges and story progress, and the edition you own. Store sets cost cash and sometimes an honor rank, Trapper sets need pelts and hides before you pay for each piece, and the rest you earn or already own.
How to use this collection
Each Trapper entry lists a garment's cash price in parentheses, followed by the pelts and hides it takes. The cost on a Trapper set is the total of its garment prices.

Cold and Hot Weather Outfits
The season names are the clearest guide. The Winter Gunslinger is in your wardrobe from the start of Story Mode for the snowy opening, and The Summer Gunslinger joins it after Eastward Bound for warmer country. The Legend of the East, further down, covers every climate.
Cheapest Store Sets and Honor Ranks
The Dolton is the cheapest main-map store set at $61.75, sold at Strawberry's general store. The Estate Boss is right behind it at $62.25, from the Wallace Station general store. Neither needs an honor rank. The Gambler is the priciest main-map set at $123.25, and it needs Honor Rank 6.
Many main-map sets need Honor Rank 3 or Honor Rank 6 first. Until your rank climbs, those stay out of reach, so check your rank before you ride into town.
Trapper Set Costs and Pelts
Trapper sets are a two-step deal. Sell the required animals to the Trapper first, then pay for each garment. The cash total covers the garments only, and the animal materials come from a separate hunt.
The Bounty Hunter is the cheapest Trapper set at $68, and The Death Roll is the priciest at $167.
Trapper Mistakes to Avoid
- Hunting the same legendary animal twice. One legendary pelt covers every garment that calls for it. A second legendary requirement in another piece doesn't mean another hunt.
- Short on ordinary pelts. Perfect pelts, hides, skins and feathers still need the full amount. The Beaver Hunting Jacket on The Bounty Hunter needs two Perfect Beaver Pelts, not one.
- Buying one garment and stopping. Every named piece has its own cash cost, so one purchase won't finish the set.
Challenge and Edition Outfits
The Legend of the East comes from challenges, not a shop. Finish every challenge category to unlock it. It works in every climate and gives gameplay bonuses, so the grind pays off in more than a new look. Red Dead Redemption 2 Challenges shows what each category asks you to do.
The Grizzlies Outlaw and The Nuevo Paraíso Gunslinger Outfit both show up in the Story Mode wardrobe after Chapter 1. The Nuevo Paraíso one is the edition outfit, included with the Special or Ultimate Edition, so only owners of those editions get it.
Epilogue Outfits and Shops (Spoilers)
Spoiler warning: everything in this section comes from the epilogue.
The Cowboy, The Winter Cowboy, The Cowhand, The Homesteader and The Rancher come free once you finish Motherhood in Epilogue Part 1.
Blackwater, Armadillo and Tumbleweed hold the epilogue store sets, and some need Honor Rank 3 or Honor Rank 6. The Armadillo at $57.25 is the cheapest store set in the game.
Some Trapper sets need New Austin access in the epilogue to finish: The Dreamcatcher, The Beast of Prey, The Huntsman, The Rattler, The Desperado and The Death Roll. The Death Roll has the most gates of any Trapper set. Its Legendary Alligator is available in Chapter 6, and the Legendary Panther unlocks after Master Hunter 9.
FAQ
Do Red Dead Online outfits work in Story Mode?
No. Online-only sets, such as the Blackrose Bounty Hunter and Copperhead Enforcer, stay in Red Dead Online.
Is The Grizzlies Outlaw only on PS4?
It started as a PS4 launch bonus. In Story Mode, it shows up in the wardrobe after Chapter 1.
Where do I get legendary pelts for Trapper sets?
From hunting the legendary animals. Red Dead Redemption 2 Legendary Animals has where each one lives, so check it before you start a set that calls for one.
Do honor ranks change prices?
They can. Honor can lower what a store charges, so the prices shown are the catalog amounts before any discount.
