How the soundtrack works
A car selects an in-game station when you enter it; emergency vehicles use a separate police band. The two London expansions reuse the same station audio. The music blends period songs, Italian film scores and original Rockstar cues. The game soundtrack is short, often one or two pieces per station. Some disc releases print different track labels; the rows here identify the in-game station, not an individual CD track.
FAQ
Does GTA: London 1961 have different radio from London 1969?
No. London 1961 reuses the London 1969 soundtrack, including the same licensed recordings, original music, genre identities, and DJ material.
Why does some London 1961 music sound too modern for the setting?
The soundtrack was assembled for the later-set London 1969 and reused in the prequel. Several recordings therefore postdate the 1961 campaign.
When does radio music play in London 1961?
Music is heard while driving compatible vehicles. The game selects from its vehicle audio when the protagonist gets in, while some original cues are associated with particular vehicles or missions.
Is all of the London 1961 music original?
No. The soundtrack combines licensed reggae and film-score recordings with music created for GTA London. That mixture distinguishes it from the mostly original soundtrack of the first Grand Theft Auto.
Who is the named DJ in GTA London?
Doctor Peter Pants-On hosts Radio Penelope. The remaining DJ voices are not given comparable character names.
Why is there no radio audio on a modern installation?
The original release expects CD audio. A modern installation may launch correctly while remaining silent if the audio disc tracks are not mounted or otherwise available to the game.
