Every October, Roblox goes all out for spooky season, but this year’s Halloween Spotlight takes it to another level, turning the platform into a full-on Halloween universe for players to explore. What the Halloween Spotlight is All About
When you enter the Halloween Spotlight hub, you’ll first see a cinematic intro that drops you right into the event’s main world. The hub is split into four lobbies, each with different themed games. You’ll start with access to a few games, and as you collect Runes, you’ll unlock more areas.
Every game in the event has two missions: one to earn a Rune, and another to earn a Key. Think of Runes as the normal path and Keys as the harder elite challenges. The more you collect, the further you can go in unlocking secret areas and exclusive avatar items.
How to Start the Event
When you first load the Halloween Spotlight event, head toward the center of the hub and grab the Cursed Compass, it’s the item that tracks all your progress.
The compass points toward games you haven’t completed yet and shows where to go next.
From there, walk through portals to enter each participating Roblox game and complete its quests.
Runes, Keys, and Keepsakes
Runes and Keys are the main items you’ll earn. You’ll get them by finishing specific game quests.
- Runes unlock new lobbies and normal paths.
- Keys open the elite paths that are tougher but reward better prizes.
Once you’ve earned enough, head back to the event hub to use them. You’ll notice signboards marked I, II, III, and IV, each leads to a new area full of puzzles and hidden Keepsakes (free avatar items). Completing an area consumes your Runes but unlocks the Keepsakes inside. Each area hides three items: two you can get with Runes, and one that needs Keys to access.

The Free Halloween Spotlight Items
As you play through the puzzles and challenges, you’ll earn Keepsakes, which are free avatar rewards hidden in each area. Every section you unlock has three items, two unlocked with Runes and one with Keys. Your progress can be followed in the Codex menu inside the hub.
