Your first Rebirth in Net a Fish needs 48 fish caught all time and $30,000 in Cash. Confirming it resets your Cash to $0, so any money you're holding at that moment is gone. Your fish count isn't reset, and it keeps counting toward every Rebirth after that.
| Item | First Rebirth | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Fish caught (all time) | 48 | Counts every fish you've ever caught |
| Cash | $30,000 | Must be in your balance when you confirm |
| Cash after Rebirth | $0 | Your balance resets when you confirm |
| Rank | Deckhand to Angler | Money multiplier rises from x1.25 to x1.50 |
Net a Fish Rebirth Requirements: Fish Caught and Cash
The Rebirth menu tracks two counters. FISH CAUGHT (ALL TIME) adds up every fish you've caught since you started, and MONEY shows the Cash in your balance. Each one is measured against the target for your next rank, and the Rebirth button only becomes usable once both have reached their targets.
Both have to be met at the same time, which is easy to misread when one counter looks finished. In one example from the menu, FISH CAUGHT (ALL TIME) read 46 / 48 while MONEY read $451,457 / $30,000. The Cash was far past its target, but being two fish short meant the Rebirth still wasn't ready. More money couldn't close that gap. Only more catches could.

What Resets and What Stays When You Rebirth
Cash is the part that resets. Confirming a Rebirth drops your balance to $0, and the Rebirth menu warns you about this before you go ahead. Whatever money you still hold at that point is gone, so the balance you have when you confirm is the one that matters.
Your fish count works differently. Because it's counted across all time, the fish you caught before a Rebirth still count toward the next one. Your Cash starts from zero again, so you build up the money target fresh after every Rebirth.
How to Prepare and Confirm Your First Rebirth
Most of the work happens before you press the button, since your balance is at $0 the moment you confirm.
Check both counters. Open the Rebirth menu and compare FISH CAUGHT (ALL TIME) and MONEY with the targets for your next rank. Both need to be at or above their targets before you go any further.
Buy the Cotton Net if you don't own it. Before your first Rebirth, the menu's tip recommends the Cotton Net, which costs $400. Nets are bought from the Nets tab in the Upgrades menu. The price comes out of the same balance MONEY is measured against, so check the counter again after buying.
Spend any extra only while you stay above the target. Upgrades you still want can come next, but MONEY needs to stay at or above $30,000 once you've finished buying.
Press Rebirth, then confirm. The game asks for a second press with the prompt TAP AGAIN TO CONFIRM, so one accidental click won't reset you. Press it again only when you're ready to give up the Cash in your balance.
Once you confirm, your fish count stays where it was, and fishing picks up from there.
What You Gain From Your First Rebirth in Net a Fish
Your first Rebirth moves you from Deckhand to Angler, and the money multiplier rises from x1.25 to x1.50. That multiplier applies to the income your showcased fish earn. Showcasing is the main way to make money in Net a Fish, so a higher multiplier means your Cash builds faster from here.
Rebirth also unlocks new worlds, and each new world offers bigger rewards than the one before. Some shop items stay locked until you reach a certain Rebirth level, so you can't buy them yet even with enough Cash. It's worth looking through the shops early so you know what you're working toward.
Each Rebirth also gives you three Skill Points to spend on nodes in your skill trees. Those nodes are passive boosts, so they keep helping after you've spent the points. The game encourages Rebirthing as often as you can, since each one raises your multiplier and opens more of the shop.
