How to Make Every Cooking Recipe in Grow a Garden

Updated on November 27, 2025 (5 days ago)

If you're farming like crazy in Grow a Garden but still not getting the best rewards, cooking is what you need to focus on. This isn’t just a fun side activity. It’s the main way to earn powerful gear, cosmetics, rare seeds, and pets. And with over 18 different dishes and hundreds of ingredient combos, there’s a lot to cook and even more to gain.

To help you out, here’s a full breakdown of every food item you can make in Grow a Garden, how to unlock cooking, and how to get better rewards using food rarities and cravings.

How to Cook in Grow a Garden

To start cooking, you need a Cooking Kit. You can get it from achievements or buy it for 1 million Sheckles from the Cosmetics store. Once placed in your garden, it acts like a permanent kitchen. Just toss in the right crops, and out comes your food.

If you played during the Chris P. Bacon event, you might remember using the cauldron. That setup is gone, but the recipes still work. Now, you cook in your own garden and feed NPCs like Chris P. or others to boost their friendship and get rare loot.

Food Rarities and Why They Matter

Each dish has rarities: from Very Common to Transcendent. Higher rarity = better rewards.

Here’s a detailed list of all food rarities in Grow a Garden, in order from lowest to highest:

Rarity Description
Very Common Lowest tier. Basic dishes or fallback recipes. Usually give basic rewards.
Common Slightly better than fallback. Still not great for rare loot.
Uncommon Decent for beginner-level rewards and starter cravings.
Rare Mid-tier rarity. Often used in early craving combos.
Legendary A strong tier that can give premium loot if matched with cravings.
Mythical High-tier. Usually harder to craft and more rewarding.
Divine End-game tier with access to special gear and rare pets.
Prismatic Extremely rare and powerful. Usually needs Bone Blossom or rare fruits.
Transcendent The absolute best. Matching this with a craving guarantees top-tier loot.

Transcendent is the most rare and valuable tier. Dishes at this level almost always require high-end ingredients like Sugarglaze, Grand crops, and Bone Blossom.

These rarities determine the strength of the loot you get when feeding NPCs, especially during active cravings. Aim for Mythical or above if you’re farming for rare items.

Size also matters. Bigger crops make bigger food, which gives better loot. Try using Grandmaster Sprinklers to grow huge fruits before tossing them in the pot.

Also, NPCs crave specific foods from time to time. If you match the craving with a high-tier version of that food, you get max rewards. Miss the craving or cook a low-tier dish? You’ll mostly get low-tier junk like Sheckles and Reclaimers.

Rewards You Can Get from Cooking

After you learn the recipes, rewards are what make cooking worth it. The better the dish, the rarer the reward. Here’s what you might get:

  • Sheckles (500 to 42,500)
  • Gourmet Seed Packs (Tomato, Jalapeno, Sugarglaze, etc.)
  • Mutation Sprays (Fried, Burnt, HoneyGlazed)
  • Gourmet Eggs (for exclusive pets)
  • Farming tools like Advanced Sprinkler
  • Cosmetics like Pretzel Cart, Pancake Stack
  • Reclaimers, Pet Shards, Toys, Crates

Some rewards like Mochi Mouse, Taco Fern, and Spaghetti Sloth only drop from high-tier food, especially when it matches the craving.

So if you want the best gear or rare pets, stop farming randomly. Start cooking smart.
