Evil Eye ore is one of the rarest and most powerful ores in The Forge. If you want to craft the best weapons and armor, this Mythical-tier ore is a must-have. But getting it isn’t easy : it’s hidden deep inside a locked cave and requires patience and the right gear to mine.
You need to unlock Raven Cave before you can mine Evil Eye
Evil Eye ore only appears inside the Crimson Depths, also known as Raven Cave. This cave is hidden behind the Forge and locked until you complete the second stage of the Raven quest. To even start that quest, you must be at least level 70 and have unlocked the Frostspire Expanse area. Without these steps, you won’t get access to the cave or the special ores inside.
Once you finish the Raven quest stage two, you can enter Raven Cave and start hunting for Evil Eye ore. If you want a detailed guide on unlocking Raven Cave and completing the quest, check out The Forge Raven Quest guide.
Where to find Evil Eye ore inside Raven Cave
Inside Crimson Depths, Evil Eye ore drops from two types of rocks:
- Large Red Crystal : This is the main source and spawns more often.
- Heart of the Island : This rare rock can drop Evil Eye and Stolen Heart ores.
Both rocks are tough to break. Large Red Crystals have 32,200 HP and Heart of the Island rocks have 32,500 HP. That means you need a strong pickaxe and patience to mine them.
If you want to learn more about mining Heart of the Island ore, which shares some locations with Evil Eye, see How to find and mine the Heart of the Island ore in The Forge.
What pickaxe do you need to mine Evil Eye?
Your pickaxe must have at least 650 mining power to break these rocks. For example:
- Prismatic Pickaxe : exactly 650 power
- Dragon Head Pickaxe : 750 power and mines faster
If your pickaxe is weaker, you won’t be able to mine the crystals at all. For a full pickaxe progression guide to help you upgrade, check out The Forge Pickaxe Progression Guide & Tier List.
How rare is Evil Eye ore?
Evil Eye ore has an extremely low drop rate : about 1 in 33,333 per rock mined. This means you might mine hundreds or even thousands of crystals before finding one. It’s pure luck, so you need patience and persistence.
How to farm Evil Eye ore efficiently
To save time and increase your chances, use this method:
- Learn where all Large Red Crystals spawn inside Crimson Depths.
- Use a strong pickaxe like the Prismatic or Dragon Head.
- Mine each crystal just enough to peek inside and check if Evil Eye ore is there.
- If you don’t see it, stop mining and let the rock reset instead of breaking it fully.
- Move on to the next crystal and repeat.
This “peek then reset” approach avoids wasting time fully mining crystals without the ore. It’s a smart way to farm efficiently.
What can you do with Evil Eye ore?
Evil Eye is a Mythical ore with a very high forge multiplier of about 13 to 13.3 times. This makes it one of the best ores for crafting powerful weapons and armor. While you can sell it for around 249 gold, it’s much better to keep it for forging because of its rarity and value.
Currently, Evil Eye ore has no special ore traits or quest uses. Its main purpose is to boost your forge multiplier and help you craft top-tier gear.
Getting Evil Eye ore is a grind but worth it
The path to Evil Eye ore is long. You need to unlock Raven Cave by completing quests and reaching level 70, then mine tough crystals with a strong pickaxe. The drop rate is extremely low, so patience is key.
If you’re serious about making legendary gear, focus on unlocking Raven Cave, upgrading your pickaxe, and farming Large Red Crystals patiently. With time and luck, you’ll add Evil Eye ore to your inventory and craft some of the best items in The Forge.
