Magma, Frostbite and Chrono are the strongest rods in Deep Fishing, but they require quest unlocks before purchase. The best rod you can buy with coins is the Galaxy Rod, and at billions of coins it's a late-game goal. For bait, Aurora leads the list and Meadow Bait outranks Tide Bait, while Cosmic, Lava and Bloodlit are the top mutations at 12x or higher.

Deep Fishing Rod Tiers: How Luck and Strength Are Ranked
Every rod has a Luck value and a Strength value, and the tiers go by those two numbers alone. Luck is the stat that improves your odds of rarer catches. Strength affects cast distance. The two stats rise together as you move up the ladder, so a higher tier means a stronger rod on both counts.
Magma, Frostbite and Chrono need you to finish a series of quests before you can get them, so you must unlock them before buying them. Everything else is bought in the shop with coins, and the free Wooden Rod is the starter every player begins with.
The coin rods climb in cost quickly. Galaxy, UFO and Angel are the strongest you can buy with coins, and they cost billions, so your coin income sets your realistic ceiling. Price doesn't affect a rod's rank, so a cheaper rod isn't placed higher just because it's easier to buy.
Which Rod to Buy at Each Stage of the Game
Your coins set the order of upgrades, so the best rod at each stage is the strongest one you can afford.
- Early game: Iron, Iron Rope and Bronze. These are the first rods the shop offers after the Wooden Rod, and they're cheap enough to buy while coins are still tight. Each one lifts both stats off zero, so they're the first real step up.
- Mid-game: Steel Rope through Crystal, then the A-tier rods. Each step is clearly stronger than the one before. The A-tier rods such as Disco and Obsidian sit between this stretch and the top coin rods.
- Late game: Angel, UFO and Galaxy. These are the strongest rods you can buy with coins, so they're the goal once your income can handle billion-coin purchases. Angel is the first of the three to reach, and Galaxy is the last.
- Quest goals: Magma, Frostbite and Chrono. Their stats are the highest in the game, but the quests are what stand between you and them. Work toward them alongside your coin upgrades, and treat them as a long-term goal.
Deep Fishing Bait Tier List: Luck and Weight
| Tier | Baits (strongest first) |
|---|---|
| S | Aurora, Chronos, Galaxy, Nova |
| A | Abyss, Eclipse, Celestial, Prism |
| B | Bloodmoon, Void, Voltage, Zephyr |
| C | Wisp, Solar, Venom, Bumble |
| D | Coral, Frost, Meadow, Tide, Classic |
Bait adds Luck and Weight to each cast. Weight is the stat that lets the hook sink to deeper water, so it matters most once you're fishing the deeper spots. Both stats rise together through the tiers, so the S-tier baits lead on both counts.
For early fishing, Meadow Bait is the better of the two cheap options. Tide Bait's name suggests deep ocean water, but it sits below Meadow on both Luck and Weight, so it isn't the upgrade its name implies.

Aurora, Chronos, Galaxy and Nova are the baits to aim for, and they cost far more than the D-tier options. Save them until you have the coins to spare, and use Meadow until then.
Mutation Multipliers Ranked: Which Are Worth Chasing
| Tier | Mutation | Multiplier | How it's obtained |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | Cosmic | 15x | Cosmic weather event |
| S | Lava | 12x | Volcano weather event |
| S | Bloodlit | 12x | Bloodmoon weather event |
| A | Diamond | 8x | Random, any catch |
| A | Cursed | 6.5x | Cursed weather event |
| A | Pearl | 6x | Pearl item |
| B | Electro | 5x | Thunder weather event |
| B | Toxic | 4x | Toxic weather event |
| B | Frozen | 3.5x | Blizzard weather event |
| C | Wet | 2.5x | Rain weather event |
| C | Gold | 2x | Random, any catch |
These tiers are based only on the multiplier, which is applied to a fish's base sell value. That makes the ranking a direct comparison of how much each mutation adds.

Eight of the eleven mutations have weather-based catch routes. Cosmic, Lava and Bloodlit are the three strongest, so they're the ones worth planning your fishing around.
Diamond is the strongest mutation that needs neither a weather event nor an item, since it's a random find on any catch. Gold is also random, and at 2x it's the weakest mutation on the list.
