How to Start the Carve Wood Hollow Quest
The quest stays hidden until you finish Carve Wood's tutorial. The tutorial covers buying seeds, chopping trees, carving logs, and selling to customers, which are the same skills the quest uses. Once it's done, an icon labeled The Hollow appears on the right side of the screen.
- Click The Hollow icon.
- Press Accept Quest.
- Watch the cutscene. Clicking through it speeds things up.
The cutscene ends by giving you a Fracture Seed, which only appears during this event. You don't need a big lumber yard or rare axes for the rest of the quest. If the seed or the icon doesn't show up, leave and rejoin the server, since event spawns sometimes fail on a first join.
How to Grow and Chop the Fractured Tree
Plant the Fracture Seed in any seedbed in your base. It takes about four minutes to grow, so get it into the ground as soon as you have it.
Once the tree is fully grown, chop it with an axe. The chopping gives you logs, and those logs are what you carve in the next step.
How to Carve the Fractured Sword on the Lathe
Take your logs to the lathe in your base, near the Sell Zone. A glowing guide line runs along the log. Click and drag along that line, keeping your cuts away from the sword's inner core.
If a carve breaks, you may need to retry that piece. Once the sword is finished, the Headless Horseman appears in your base and opens a portal. Step through it to reach The Hollow world, where the boss is waiting.
How to Beat the Haunted Tree Boss and Earn the Spooky Carver Badge
Going for the Fractured Diamond wakes the rat sleeping beside it, and the Haunted Tree starts attacking. The fight has three stages, and you get three lives.
- Stage one: The tree uses small circular attacks that are easy to dodge. Hit it repeatedly with your sword to stun it, then land critical hits on its head.
- Stage two: It lifts its roots and reaches out with long-range attacks. Run in circles around the tree, sidestep its strikes, and keep swinging.
- Stage three: The rat runs around the arena. Take the diamond from the rat, then finish off the tree. If you don't get the diamond, the boss gets stronger.
Watch for on-screen prompts and keep moving through the fight. Defeating the tree completes the questline, and you'll get the Spooky Carver badge, which shows up in the game's Badge section. Return to The Hollow hub and redeem the badge for 20 event Tickets.
