In WEBFISHING, you cast, wait for a bite and reel in fish alone or with friends. It's a casual multiplayer fishing game by the indie developer lamedeveloper. You hold the left mouse button to charge a cast and let go to throw your line, then you wait, because bites come at random. Once a fish bites, you hold the left mouse button to fill the catch meter and click the yank spots that block it.
Rods are only cosmetic, so a catch goes faster with the Rod Power upgrade from the Fishing Store, not a stronger rod. Not every catch is a fish, since junk and treasure chests show up too, and the fish you land are worth money. You spend that money at the Fishing Store on upgrades, bait licenses, and Fishing Buddies. Your bait decides which fish you can catch, and bigger or higher-quality catches are harder to land.
Over time, you work toward filling your catch journal, which tracks each fish species at every quality from Normal up to Alpha. Each catch and finished quest adds XP toward your player rank, and camp tiers unlock new bait licenses. Achievements mark many of these milestones along the way.
Fishing Rods
Every rod in WEBFISHING is cosmetic, so the rod you hold changes how it looks, not your results. You start with the Simple Fishing Rod. Most other rods unlock by filling your journal, and then you buy them with money at the Fishing Store.
The Traveler's Fishing Rod unlocks after you catch at least one of each fish in any quality. The Collector's rods each need a full set at one quality, from Normal up to Alpha, and their prices climb with each quality.
| Rod | Price | How to unlock it |
|---|---|---|
| Simple Fishing Rod | $1 | Available from the start |
| Traveler's Fishing Rod | $150 | Catch at least one of every fish |
| Collector's Fishing Rod | $250 | Catch every fish in Normal quality |
| Shining Collector's Fishing Rod | $500 | Catch every fish in Shining quality |
| Glistening Collector's Fishing Rod | $1,500 | Catch every fish in Glistening quality |
| Opulent Collector's Fishing Rod | $5,000 | Catch every fish in Opulent quality |
| Radiant Collector's Fishing Rod | $15,000 | Catch every fish in Radiant quality |
| Alpha Collector's Fishing Rod | $25,000 | Catch every fish in Alpha quality |
| Prosperous Fishing Rod | $9,999,999 | Available from the start |
| Spectral Rod | $500 | Collect all five Spectral Bones |
The Spectral Rod is the exception, since it's tied to a secret. Stats come from upgrades at the Fishing Store, such as Rod Speed and Rod Chance.
Quest Board
The quest board sits near the spawn point, and it's where you track your quests. When a quest is finished, a marker appears above the board. Open the board and click the completed quest to collect its reward, which comes as money and XP toward your player rank, and some quests also give cosmetic items.
Secrets: Spectral Bones and the Spectral Rod
Five Spectral Bones are hidden around the map: the Skull, Rib, Femur, Humerus, and Spine. Most of the spots need a blue Jump Mushroom to reach, and the Spine sits north of the lighthouse while the Humerus is in the far northwest corner. Collect all five, then bring them with $500 to the hidden spot behind a waterfall to get the Spectral Rod.

Baits and Lures
Bait and lures are the fishing gear that shapes every catch in WEBFISHING. Bait starts with worms and sets the quality of each fish you catch, and each new type needs a license from the Fishing Store before it appears in the Bait Shop. Lures are bought at the Fishing Store, unlock at set Camp Tiers, and change how each catch plays out.
Collectibles
Fish
WEBFISHING has a large catalog of catchable fish, including freshwater fish from lakes, rivers, ponds, the Well and the Toilet, saltwater fish from the ocean, rain fish that only appear during rain, special catches from meteors and the Void, and junk items. Each fish sells for a price based on its rarity, size and quality. An in-game fishing journal tracks every fish you catch at each quality tier.
Achievements
WEBFISHING's Steam achievements cover fishing, rank, camp upgrades, money, the fish journal, and a hidden goal called Spectral Secret. Each achievement unlocks automatically when you reach its goal, and it then shows on your Steam profile. The hidden Spectral Secret stays concealed until you earn it, and it requires buying the Spectral Rod from the Spectral Hand behind a waterfall after finding all the Spectral Bones.
WEBFISHING gameplay tips
- Buy the Cricket bait license early. Worms can only catch the two lowest fish tiers, while crickets can catch every tier. The license is cheap, which makes it an easy early purchase.
- Put your first rod upgrade into Rod Power. Each yank takes off as much as your Rod Power, so a higher number finishes a catch in fewer pulls.
- Fish during rain. Some catches turn into rain fish while it's raining, and rain also makes a bite a little more likely.
- Get a Freshwater Fishing Buddy. The Fishing Store sells it, and it catches fish for you on its own, so you can keep chatting with friends at camp.
