Characters are the full combat kits in The Strongest Battlegrounds. Each one is a moveset with its own base skills, Awakening name, and feel in a fight, more than a look. You pick a fighter for range, grabs, counters, mobility, or pure pressure, then learn how that kit wants rounds to go.

How a kit is built
Most finished fighters follow the same shape: four base moves on the normal bar, then an Awakening (also called the ultimate mode) with its own move set. Awakening is not a permanent upgrade. You spend bar, transform, and play a short window where the new skills matter.
A few kits break that pattern on purpose. Sorcerer leans on Infinity instead of a standard Awakening. Early Access fighters can ship with a finished base kit while ultimate tools are still incomplete. Limited or boss kits may only document part of the ultimate side.
Pick by job, not by hype
Use the free menu first and match the job you want:
- All-rounder / beginner: The Strongest Hero is the cleanest place to learn M1s, simple combos, and when to spend Serious Mode.
- Grabs and burst: Hero Hunter and Wild Psychic punish players who stay too close or pack into groups.
- Range and chip: Destructive Cyborg and Tech Prodigy want spacing, not face-tank trades.
- Hit-and-run: Deadly Ninja lives on short engagements and whiff punishes.
- Block pressure: Brutal Demon opens defenses with heavy bat tools.
- Tech and counters: Blade Master rewards reads; Martial Artist rewards movement mix-ups.
- Hero Hunter alt: Monster Form is a free second kit under Hero Hunter, with no mastery gate. Open the star next to Hero Hunter if you want that route.
If a kit feels bad, switch. Mastery of one fighter beats collecting every name on the select screen.
Free, Early Access, and special access
Free characters are the public competitive lane. Anyone can open them in a normal server and grind them without a gamepass.
Early Access is the paid-before-release lane. Buy the Early Access gamepass to play unfinished fighters early. When a kit is marked finished, it joins the free menu and the Early Access seat moves on. Expect missing ultimate details while a character is still in EA (Undying Hero is the current example: base kit complete, Unkillable name known, full ultimate move list still thin).
Exclusive and limited kits are not normal public picks. Private Server+ characters, donation or private-server joke kits, and boss spawns exist for special sessions. Treat them as power-fantasy or event toys unless your server actually has the unlock path.
Common mistakes
Do not confuse anime inspiration with free access. A Gojo-inspired Sorcerer kit can still be locked to Private Server+.
Do not spend Early Access money expecting a finished ultimate bar on day one. You are buying early base-kit practice and first look, not a guaranteed complete endgame moveset.
Do not force one playstyle onto every character. Zoning kits punish you for diving. Grab kits punish you for playing too far. Read the playstyle line, then train the four base moves before you rely on Awakening finishers.
Do not treat limited boss or parody kits as the free ladder. If a card says Private Server+, Fractal of Tundra spawn, or limited access, it will not appear like a normal free fighter in public ranked-style play.
FAQ
What is an Awakening in The Strongest Battlegrounds?
Awakening is the character's ultimate mode. You fill the bar, transform, and get a new set of moves for a limited window. Names differ by kit, such as Serious Mode, Rampage, or Pumped Up.
Are all characters free?
No. Most finished roster fighters are free. Early Access needs the Early Access gamepass until that character is finished. Exclusive and limited kits need Private Server+, special spawns, or other limited access.
How do you unlock Hero Hunter Monster Form?
It is a free alternate moveset on Hero Hunter. Open the star next to Hero Hunter on the character select and choose Monster Form. There is no mastery requirement.
What is Early Access and does it stay paid forever?
Early Access lets you play unfinished characters early with the Early Access gamepass. When a character is finished, it becomes free for everyone and leaves the paid Early Access seat.
Does Sorcerer have an Awakening?
No standard Awakening. Sorcerer is built around Infinity and its special tools as a Private Server+ exclusive, not a normal free competitive pick.
Why are some ultimate move lists empty?
Some kits are still unfinished (Early Access) or do not use a standard ultimate mode. Empty fields mean the public info is incomplete or the kit works differently, not that a secret full list is missing from the card on purpose.
Should beginners start on exclusive characters?
No. Learn on free fighters first. Exclusive and limited kits often need special access and are tuned more like private-server toys than the free ladder.
