How Crafting Works in Survive the Killer
Crafting takes two or more knives you already own and combines them into one new knife. You do it at the Crafting Table, which sits near the middle of the lobby, close to the display of skin bundles. Walk up to the table to open the Crafting Menu, where the recipes are kept.
Recipes come in tiers such as Rare, Legendary, Immortal and Spectrum, and the Rare tier includes the Iridescent Slycer. Each recipe has two separate parts: unlocking it, which lets you craft it at all, and owning its ingredients, which are the knives you actually put into the table. Having one doesn't give you the other, and knowing that split makes the rest of crafting much easier to follow.
How to Unlock a Crafting Recipe
Unlocking comes first, and it's a separate step from gathering knives. Recipes can unlock in a few different ways. Some unlock when you reach certain levels, and others are found on a map, where you have to track them down.
The shop is another route. Some recipes are sold there as consumables, which you buy and use up to unlock them, and buying one doesn't always mean you can use it right away. Codes have also granted some recipes, with the Motherlode Slycer as one example.
Where the Ingredients for Crafting Come From
Once a recipe is unlocked, you still need the knives it calls for. Those ingredients can come from crates, the shop, quests, or crafting itself, since one recipe's result can feed into another. The ingredients don't have to come from different rarities, so a recipe can call for knives that share the same rarity. That means you can often build a recipe from what you already have, instead of hunting for a specific mix.
Planning Your Crafts in Survive the Killer
Plan around the unlock first. A recipe you haven't unlocked yet doesn't help, no matter how many matching knives you have. Some unlocks only finish once you touch the Crafting Table again, so plan your trip around that. Some recipes also ask for a specific knife just to reach them, so bring that knife with you before you head out.
For a first craft, pick one with easy ingredients. Iron Slycer is a practical starting point, since its ingredients come from the 1st Generation Crate.
