Partners are the companion characters who join your Adventurer in Star Sailors, the turn-based collectible RPG on mobile. Battle Partners fight on the front line beside your Adventurer, while Assist Partners stay back and support the team with buffs, debuffs, healing and shields. Star Sailors has a full roster of Partners to collect and track, so it helps to know what each type does before you start recruiting.

What Are Partners in Star Sailors?
Partners are the characters you collect to build your team. A full team has six spots: your Adventurer, two Battle Partners, two Assist Partners and one Monster Partner. Only your Adventurer and the two Battle Partners stand on the field at the same time, so the front line is made up of the characters that take the hits.
How Battle and Assist Partners Work in Combat
Battle Partners take hits and deal most of your team's damage, standing beside your Adventurer. Assist Partners stay back and do their work from there, with buffs for your team, debuffs on enemies, healing and shields. Their effects can change the whole fight, such as weakening an enemy before your front line strikes.
Skills cost Skill Points (SP). Overdrive is a gauge that fills during battle. When it's full, you can activate it to give your whole team a large burst of SP at once, so timing it well can give your team a big push in a tough fight.
How to Get Partners in Star Sailors
Most Partners come from Recruit banners, and you pull on them with Gold Compasses, Silver Compasses or Diamonds. Standard Recruit is the regular pool, while Pick Up Recruit gives a featured Partner a higher chance to appear. Every pull uses up resources, so it helps to decide which Partners you're after before you start.
A few Partners come without a pull. Remi, Soul, Simo and Dora come from the start, Ethan comes from the Day 2 login reward, and Caroline comes from the tutorial summon, which opens once you clear Normal Stage 1-5.
Which Partners Are Limited
Some Partners are only available for a set time. Nadia the Sand Artist arrived with the summer update, and the pickup for that Partner ran with boosted rates for a limited time. Lucy came from the collaboration with the webtoon The Extra's Academy Survival Guide and was free through a special login event.
Remi the Rolling Pop started as a summer Partner and has since joined Standard Recruit, so she is no longer limited.
How to Build a Team Around Roles and Time Traits
Each Partner has a role that shows its job in battle: Attacker, Defender, Supporter or Debuffer. Attackers deal damage, Defenders take hits and shield the team, Supporters heal and buff allies, and Debuffers weaken enemies. Most Battle Partners are Attackers or Defenders, and most Assist Partners are Supporters or Debuffers, so a balanced team usually puts damage and shields up front and healing and debuffs in the back.
Every Partner also has a Time Trait: Daylight, Midnight or Twilight. When several Partners on your team share the same trait, the team's core stats go up, and the bonuses your Assist Partners give the front line grow stronger. That makes the trait worth checking whenever you build a lineup. Heidi, Nina and Jen are a common example of a Daylight team, and Kaira fits Twilight builds.
How Memory Pieces Make Partners Stronger
Memory Pieces are one way to make a Partner stronger. Each one adds to a Partner's attack, defense and HP, and comes with a passive effect plus a special skill that triggers under certain conditions. Higher-rarity pieces give bigger stat boosts and stronger skills, so they're the ones to work toward as your roster grows.
FAQ
Do Assist Partners fight in Star Sailors?
They stay off the field, but they still shape the fight. Their stats back up the front line, and their Assist skill keeps adding buffs, debuffs, healing or damage while the battle runs.
Which Partners are free in Star Sailors?
A handful of them are. The free group is enough to build a starter team for the first chapters, so you can get going without spending anything on pulls.
What is Chain in Star Sailors?
Chain builds when you hit an enemy with an element it's weak to. Each of those hits adds to your Chain Count, and the Chain Damage Multiplier raises the damage of your advantageous attacks as the count climbs.
