In Star Sailors, you collect characters and build a team to fight in battle, and gear sets are a big part of making that team stronger. Every piece of gear belongs to a gear set. Wear enough pieces from the same set and you unlock a bonus that works during battle.

What Star Sailors Gear Sets Are
Gear is the equipment your characters wear, and each character has five slots for it: Head, Top, Bottom, Ring, and Necklace. Every piece you equip belongs to a gear set, and that set decides which bonus the piece can help unlock. Because a character has only five slots, a four-piece set fills most of the outfit. That's why it's worth deciding which set a character should use before you start upgrading their gear.
How Star Sailors Gear Set Bonuses Work
Each set has two bonus levels. Wear two pieces from the same set and you get the 2-piece bonus. Wear four and the 4-piece bonus kicks in as well. The 2-piece bonus starts as soon as a battle begins, while the 4-piece bonus usually comes into play during the fight, such as after a character uses an Ultimate or an Active Skill, or each time they take an action. Since the 4-piece bonus needs four of your five pieces, it makes the most sense on the characters you rely on most.
Gear Stats, Rarity and Upgrades
Head always gives ATK%, Top always gives DEF%, and Bottom always gives HP%, so those main stats never change. Ring and Necklace each get one main stat from a short list instead. Every piece can also roll extra stats, called substats, from one shared pool that includes Crit Rate, Crit DMG, Heal Bonus, accuracy, resistance, and Chain Mastery.
Gear comes in four rarities, UC, R, SR, and SSR, and higher rarity means bigger numbers on every stat. You can upgrade a piece up to +15, and each upgrade raises its main stat. Focus on main stats first, since substats take a back seat until you're farming SSR gear.
Where to Farm Star Sailors Gear Sets
Gear sets drop from the Conquest bosses: Forest Keeper, Dreaming Forest Enforcer, Silver Tail Jaws, and Silver Ravens Assassin. Each boss drops two sets, so you'll keep returning to the same few fights as your team grows. It helps to plan your runs around the sets your main characters need most.
Which Star Sailors Gear Sets Matter Most
The best set depends on your team more than on any single ranking. Fire damage dealers suit Radiant Sun, Light damage dealers suit Eternal Grove, and Earth damage dealers suit Still Abyss, which also helps critical hits. Attack-focused characters get a lot from Blessing of Primal Tan, Solemn Resolve is the one to consider for builds that rely on Chain Mastery, and healers look to Purifying Seas. Tanks have Noble Soul, which leans toward max HP and starting SP for the team, and Resolute Cause, which leans toward defense and cutting damage taken.
A good way to start is with the character you use most. Match the set to that character's element and role, then build the rest of your gear around it instead of chasing every set at once.
FAQ
Are gear sets the same as relic sets?
Yes. Some players call them relic sets, and the name covers the same pieces, bonuses, and farming bosses. If you come across that term while looking things up, you can read it the same way.
What do Crit Rate and Crit DMG mean?
Crit Rate is how often an attack lands as a critical hit, and Crit DMG is how much extra damage a critical hit deals on top of normal damage. If you're upgrading a damage dealer, both are worth watching.
What does Heal Bonus do?
Heal Bonus raises the amount of healing a character does, so it matters most for healers and support characters. It can show up as a main stat on a necklace or as a substat on other pieces.
