Ravenswatch is a co-op roguelite where you team up as folklore heroes to stop a dark force called the Nightmare in Reverie. Melodies are team-wide bonuses you rebuild during a run using musical notes. Collecting them and keeping track of which ones you have is a big part of playing, so it helps to know how the system works.

What Are Melodies in Ravenswatch?
A Melody is a song that gives every hero in your group a bonus for the rest of the run. Because the bonus covers the whole group, it doesn't matter which hero you're playing, since everyone on your team gets the effect. Melodies came with the free Songs of Thieves update, and their effects range from healing and extra levels to more damage and easier movement around the map.
How Do You Get Notes for Melodies?
Notes come from Magical Harps, which you can find in Thieves' Stashes and in Reverie. Collecting from a harp gives you musical notes, and you use those notes to rebuild a Melody during your run. That rebuild is what turns a harp find into a bonus for your team, so picking up notes is the first step to getting any Melody working. Each Melody needs a set number of notes, and the ones that need more take longer to finish. Since the costs vary, grabbing every note you come across keeps your options open.
Which Ravenswatch Melodies Are Best?
No single Melody is the best pick for every run, because each one helps in a different way. The healing and leveling ones, such as Galahad and Fairy Godmother, matter most when your heroes are taking hits and need to recover. Little Tailor fits in there too, since it hands out power-ups as the group levels up past a certain point.
Damage Melodies such as Hansel and Gretel and The Goose Girl add steady damage on top of your own attacks. Others make the run smoother: Tortoise speeds up the whole team, Long John Silver reveals Raven Marks on the map, and Merry Men opens locks without keys. Sheherazad, Otohime, and Lucky Hans tweak dream purchases, the Hourglass of Dreams, and item collections, which pays off if you care about those parts of the game. Pick the Melody that fills the gap your team has most, whether that's staying alive, dealing damage, or moving through the map.
How Do You Keep Track of Your Melodies?
The Compendium is where you check your Melody progress. A Melody's effect stays hidden there until you've rebuilt it, so you can't tell what an unrebuilt one does just by looking at its name. Once you rebuild a Melody, its effect shows up, which makes the Compendium the place to see which Melodies you've rebuilt and which ones are still missing.
FAQ
Why won't a certain Melody show up in my run?
Some Melodies are kept out of runs when certain custom run modifiers are turned on. The developers did this so a Melody's effect doesn't go to waste. If there's one you're hoping for, check which modifiers you have on before you start.
Does Stingy Jack drop Melody notes?
Yes, he can. Stingy Jack loots chests in Reverie and runs off as soon as he sees you coming, so you'll have to catch him first. Hitting him releases Dream Shards and, eventually, the Magical Object he stole, and he can also release a note tied to a Melody.
Where are Thieves' Stashes in Ravenswatch?
Thieves' Stashes are in Dark Hills, Storm Island, and Avalon. They're secret rooms guarded by Thieves, and the rooms come in a few types, including treasure rooms full of Dream Shards, ambush rooms, and cursed rooms with a random curse.
