All 8 Story Islands in Order and How to Reach Them in Raft

Updated on November 1, 2026 (3 days ago)

Story islands are the large, hand-built locations in Raft that carry the game's storyline. Each one holds notes, puzzles and clues that point you to the next. Players can collect and keep track of the story islands in the game, from the first one to the last.

What Are Raft Story Islands?

Raft opens after a global flood. Melting polar ice has drowned most of the world, and you set out to find land where people can still live. The story islands are where that search plays out, and they are the main goal of the game.

Each island is packed with notes that slowly reveal what happened and who was behind it. Those notes are how the story gets told, so visiting the islands is how you learn why the world ended up this way.

How Do You Find Story Islands in Raft?

You can't spot story islands just by sailing around, so you need the Receiver. Both the Receiver and the Antenna recipes stay locked until you find their blueprints. Once you've researched them at a Research Table, build one Receiver, three Antennas and a Battery. Place the Receiver one full floor above foundation level, with its three Antennas each at least two foundation lengths away.

To read the screen, look at it and press E. The green dots are large islands with Trading Posts, and the blue dot is the story island you're tracking. Follow the blue dot to reach the next story island.

How Do Story Islands Connect, and How Do You Track Them?

The story islands run in one straight line, and you can't skip ahead. Each island has puzzles and clues that reveal a four-digit code. You enter that code on the Receiver, and the next island's blue dot appears on the screen. The first code fills in for you the first time you use the Receiver in a world, so you never have to hunt for the starting point.

Codes are random in each playthrough, so a number you find online probably won't match your save. The codes you collect are saved in your Notebook, which you open with T, so you can look them up when you forget a digit. You'll need to visit each island in order to reach the ending.

What Do You Get From Story Islands?

Story islands give you more than plot. Each one has notes and blueprints for new tools and building parts, and the later islands tend to offer the better gear.

Which Story Islands Matter Most?

Radio Tower and Utopia stand out because they bookend the story. The Radio Tower is where the story begins, and it is the first step on the route. Utopia comes last, and it's where the main story wraps up. Utopia doesn't lead to any new code, so once you finish it, you can keep sailing and building however you like. It also has some of the most useful blueprints in the game, such as the Big Backpack and Titanium Tools.

FAQ

Q.

Why isn't the blue dot showing on my Receiver?

Blue dots stay hidden until you enter that island's four-digit code, so the Receiver has nothing to show for an island you haven't unlocked yet. Once the code is in, the dot appears on the screen and you can follow it.

Q.

Can you keep playing after the Raft story ends?

Yes. Utopia has no next code, but your world stays open, so you can keep sailing, building and exploring.

Q.

Does the Receiver need a battery?

Yes, and the Battery drains the whole time the Receiver is switched on. Switch it off when you're not tracking an island so the Battery lasts longer.
