How Clothing Slots Work in Permafrost

Clothing fills slots from the head down to the tactical rig. Head, torso, legs, hands and feet are the warm slots, and each piece lists its own insulation, which is the first number to read on a card.

Which Permafrost Clothing Sets Are Worth Building Toward

Casual and Survivor's are the starter outfits. Wear them while you gather, and start swapping pieces as the materials for the next set turn up.

Before you commit to Insulated Mountain, check its durability on the cards, since that number decides how fast the pieces wear out.

Lunar's blueprint comes from a quest, so treat it as a goal rather than a day-one craft. Once a Lunar piece is in reach, compare its Insulation and Durability on the card against the piece you're wearing.

The head slot has a shortcut too. The Bear, Fox and Wolf Head Hats need only Cloth and their matching pelt, so you can craft one on the same hunt that gets you the pelt.

What Each Clothing Set Needs Beyond Cloth

Every set is made at the Tailoring Bench and needs Cloth, plus the material in the second column.

Heaters Go in the Tactical Rig Slot

The Chemical Heater needs Cloth and Chemicals, the Electric Heater needs Cloth and Batteries, and the Makeshift Heater needs Cloth and Processed Plastic. All three are made at the Crafting Bench, not the Tailoring Bench, so build that bench before your first heater. Each one lists its durability on the card. Check it before a long trip and keep a spare.

Mistakes That Waste Clothing Materials

• Upgrading one slot and calling it done. One Lunar jacket doesn't finish the set, and the other four pieces still need their materials.
• Hunting for recipes that don't exist. Every backpack, the Metropolis Scarf and Military Pants (Condor) can't be crafted. Check the Craftable field on the card before you gather for one.
