All 70 Characters and How to Get Them in Party Animals

Party Animals is a multiplayer party game where friends battle it out online or on a shared screen, and everyone picks an animal to play as. Those animals are the Party Animals characters, and they range from a gorilla and a rabbit to a dragon and a unicorn. Each one comes with its own species and set of traits. Some characters are ready from your first match, while others unlock through account levels, the Item Shop, passes, events, codes or crossover guests.

How Party Animals Characters Work

Every character is a playable animal, such as a corgi, a husky or a sea otter. Your pick is mostly about looks and personal taste, because picking a character doesn't change your stats. No single character is the strongest choice, so you can go with the animal you enjoy most.

What the Character Traits Mean

Each character comes with a set of traits, such as Canine, Diving, Fluffy, Feline, Flying, Horned and Plant Eating. These are the mission classifications in Party Animals, so they show how the game groups each animal. Canine, for example, shows up on dog-type animals like the husky and the corgi. They're labels for grouping, not combat ratings, so a character with more traits isn't stronger than one with fewer.

Starter Characters You Can Play From the Start

Starter characters are ready to play from your first match, so there's nothing to unlock or wait for. The group covers a wide mix of animals, from a rabbit and a cat to a unicorn and a crocodile. If you're new to the game, this is the easiest place to start, since you can jump into a match with any of them right away.

Level Reward Characters and How to Unlock Them

Level reward characters unlock as your account levels up, and each one is tied to a set level. The first comes very early, while the last ones take a long time to reach. Level is the only requirement, so you don't need a code, a pass or a purchase to get them.

Item Shop Characters and How to Get Them

Item Shop characters are sold in the in-game Item Shop, and they make up the largest group in the roster. They cover a wide mix of animals, from a shark and a penguin to a lucky cat and a Fox Terrier. Since the shop lineup changes, check the in-game shop to see which of these are on sale.

Limited-Time Characters From Passes and Events

Some characters came through a pass or event rather than a steady route. Fubao and Fuguee, the panda and the red panda, came from the Master Pass, while Ron, Stella and Sunday came from the Cats vs Dogs Pass.

Lotus, a dragon, was tied to the Chinese New Year event and also sold in the Item Shop. GooGoo, a pigeon from a playtest demo, and Tyrex, a dinosaur from the Halloween Egg Machine, can no longer be earned.

Codes: Characters Unlocked With Creator Codes

Kato is a husky and Kiko is a cat, and each one unlocks once you redeem a creator's code rather than by leveling up or buying.

Collaboration Characters From Other Games and Creators

Collaboration characters are guests from other games, or characters based on a creator. Buddy from Human: Fall Flat unlocks by logging in during that game's collaboration event. Naru and Ori from Ori and Naru were sold in the Item Shop during their collaboration, and Om Nom from Cut the Rope is sold there too.

The Lamb from Cult of the Lamb turns up in the Item Shop from time to time. Pensky, a penguin-husky hybrid from My Time at Sandrock, unlocks with a code from that game, and Vicksy, a fox based on the creator Vicksy, unlocks with a code as well. Cabbage Dog, a guest from Vegetable Fairies, was sold in the Item Shop but can no longer be earned.

FAQ

Do outfits count as separate characters?

No. Outfits are costumes you can put on a character, and each one has its own unlock rule. That rule can be different from the character's, so an outfit being available doesn't mean its character is, and the reverse is also true.

Do Item Shop characters ever come back?

They can. Item Shop characters rotate in and out of the shop, so one that's missing may show up again later. It won't always be on sale, so check the in-game shop when you want a specific animal.

What does "Obtainable" mean for a character?

It means the character can still be earned in some way, even if the pass or event it first came from has ended. Not Obtainable characters, such as GooGoo, Tyrex and Cabbage Dog, can't be earned at the moment.
