In Mongil: Star Dive, you capture monsters called Monsterlings and fight in real time with a party of three. It's a free-to-play monster-taming action RPG from Netmarble, and a follow-up to the 2013 mobile game Monster Taming. Fights happen in real time, and you bring a party of three characters into each battle, switching between them to keep attacks flowing. The monsters you collect are called Monsterlings, and they're a big part of how you get stronger.
A typical session is mostly exploring and fighting. You move across the map, follow the story and side quests, and take on enemies along the way. Some defeated monsters can be captured after the fight, and two Monsterlings can be combined to unlock new types, so your collection keeps growing. Keys work as stamina and limit how much you can do in one sitting, since story, character growth and farming all draw from them and refill slowly over time.
The long-term goal is a strong, well-rounded team that can handle harder content. You get there by upgrading your characters and equipping them with gear, including Artifacts and Monsterlings, since both affect how far a character can grow. New characters come from summons using Starlight Crystals, and the main story unfolds over a series of episodes, with tougher content such as Boss Battles and Rift Challenges opening up as you progress.

Characters
Characters are the party members you bring into battle in MONGIL: STAR DIVE. Each one has a role (Fighter, Destroyer, Assassin or Support), an element (Fire, Ice, Lightning, Wind or Earth) and a rarity of four or five stars. Battles use a team of three, and you can swap members mid-fight, so how roles and elements work together is the key to a strong team.
Artifacts
Artifacts are equipment in Mongil: Star Dive that raise a character's stats and add special effects. Each one is made for a single role (Assassin, Destroyer, Fighter or Support), and its effect applies when a character of that role equips it. They come in 5★, 4★ and 3★ rarities, and you get them from artifact summons and event banners. Extra copies can be fused to make them stronger.
Collectibles
Monsterlings
Monsterlings are creatures players catch in Mongil: Star Dive and equip on their characters. Each one brings a Fixed Ability and traits, many add a Link Skill, and they come in rarity tiers from common to legendary. Players combine Monsterlings to make new ones, and certain fixed recipes produce rare mutants.

MONGIL gameplay tips
- Focus upgrades on one or two strong damage characters early. Your resources are limited, so spreading them across many characters slows every one of them down. A small core team moves you through the story faster, and weaker picks can be fixed later.
- Build a team with a mix of damage and support. Battles are tag-team, so a lineup of only damage dealers tends to fall apart. Support characters that provide buffs keep the rest of the team hitting harder.
- Learn enemy attack patterns before you rush in. Enemies get more complex attacks as you progress, and bosses hit hard later. Attacks that glow yellow can be countered with a well-timed Dodge or Switch Skill, which also makes every party member's Switch Skill ready again, while red attacks can't be countered and have to be dodged.
- Finish your daily missions every day. They're a steady source of premium currency and upgrade materials, which are what keep your characters growing.
- Hold your Starlight Crystals for summons. Crystals are the premium currency for pulls, and a featured or rate-up banner is the best time to use them. Spending them to refill Keys costs more each time you do it in a single day, so that's a poor use of them.
