Protocores are the power cores in Love and Deepspace that make your Memory cards stronger in battle. Memories are the character cards you pull with wishes, and each one can hold Protocores that boost its attack, health and defense. Think of them as gear: you match them to the right card, upgrade them and decide which ones are worth keeping. Knowing how they fit together early on saves you from wasting resources.

What are Protocores in Love and Deepspace?
The story introduces Protocores as energy crystals that Wanderers, the hostile creatures attacking people, leave behind. You can't use them right away, though. They unlock once you finish Main Story 4-13, and after that you manage them from the Memory page.
How Protocores match your Memories
A Protocore won't fit just any Memory. Each Memory has a Stellactrum color, and a core has to share that color to be equipped. Ruby Protocores, for example, only work with Ruby Memories such as Xavier: Precious Bonfire. If they don't line up, you can't equip the core, so check the match before you spend time upgrading it.
Shape adds another layer. The core types are Alpha (α), Beta (β), Gamma (γ) and Delta (δ). Alpha and Beta cores fit solar Memories, while Gamma and Delta cores fit lunar Memories, so the Memory's type decides which cores can go in its slots.
Protocore rarity, levels and upgrades
Protocores come in three rarities, and the border color shows which one you have. Blue is common (R), purple is rarer (SR), and gold is the rarest (SSR). Higher rarity brings stronger stats and a higher level cap. Blue cores hit their cap early, while purple and gold cores can keep going past level 10.
Each core has one primary stat, such as attack, health or defense, and it grows as you level the core. Every three levels, the core either unlocks a new secondary bonus or strengthens one it already has. A core can hold up to four secondary bonuses in total.
How to get Protocores in Core Hunt
Core Hunt is the main way to get Protocores. It's a battle mode with three areas, and each area drops two of the six colors. Fusion gives Emerald and Ruby, Dissociation gives Sapphire and Pearl, and Disambiguation gives Violet and Amber. The area you run decides which colors you can get that day.
Each area only opens on certain days. Fusion opens on Monday, Thursday and Sunday, Dissociation on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, and Disambiguation on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Sunday is the only day all three are open, so it's the best day to collect every color. You have to enter a stage on its area's open day.
Each run costs Stamina, and the stages get harder as you go. Deeper stages pay out rarer and better cores, so pushing further is worth it when you can handle it.
Which Protocores are worth your resources?
Purple and gold cores with a strong primary stat are the ones to build around, since they have the most room to grow. Put your upgrade materials into a few of them rather than spreading them across everything you own.
Match first, then judge stats. A high-rarity core on a Memory it doesn't match can't be equipped at all, so the fit always comes before the numbers.
Blue cores work as temporary fillers while you wait for something better, but there's little point in pouring resources into them. Keep your upgrade materials for your best purple and gold cores.
FAQ
How can I tell if a Protocore is already equipped?
Open the core's screen, which shows the Memory currently using it. If the picture is empty, the core isn't on any Memory right now.
How hard should I push in Core Hunt?
Aim for three stars on the highest stage you can reliably clear on auto-battle. That keeps you chasing the better rewards without running stages you'd struggle with.
