All 109 Weapons and Tools and How to Get Them in Grounded 2

Updated on November 1, 2026 (3 days ago)

Weapons and tools are the gear you use to survive in Grounded 2, a survival game where shrunken teens have to get by among insects in a park. Weapons are for fighting bugs and other creatures, and they come as melee weapons, shields, bows, greatbows and candy staves. Turret ammo loads into turrets, while tools handle everyday work like chopping plants, breaking stones and digging, and most of that now runs through one item called the Omni-Tool. Each type fights or works in its own way, so knowing how they differ helps you pick the right gear for the job.

One-Handed, Two-Handed and Dual Wield Weapons

Melee weapons are the ones you swing up close, and they come in three hand styles. One-handed weapons are the all-round choice, since your other hand is free for a shield. Two-handed weapons swing slowly but hit hard and carry plenty of stun, though both hands are busy, so you'll need to swap items to light the way in dark areas.

Dual wield weapons come in pairs and rely on quick, light hits. Each hit does less damage than a two-hander's, but they make up for it with a higher chance of landing critical hits. Fast weapons suit players who like to keep moving, while slow, heavy ones reward patient timing.

How Combos and Charged Attacks Work

Most melee weapons chain three swings into a combo. The first two hits deal the same damage, and the third lands harder. Daggers and sickles, the dual wield types, finish with an even bigger blow.

Holding the attack button charges any weapon. A longer charge does more damage but uses more stamina, the energy bar that also powers your blocks and dodges. Unlike in the original Grounded, you can keep holding a full charge without releasing it, so you can wait for the right moment. Charged hits stagger and stun enemies that are blocking, which gives you room to strike back, and dual wield charge attacks lunge you forward to close the gap.

You also get a bonus for surprise. Striking a hostile creature that hasn't noticed you deals extra damage, as long as you aren't already in a fight. This is called an ambush.

Shields: Light Versus Heavy and Blocking

Shields are your defense, and there are two kinds. Light shields cut the damage you take by a percentage when you block, and a perfect block stuns the attacker. Heavy shields stop all damage from a blocked hit and use less stamina per hit, but they give no extra bonus for a perfect block, and their stamina refills more slowly.

Timing decides whether a block counts as perfect. A block made within about a quarter of a second of the hit negates the damage and stuns the attacker, and flying creatures are stunned right away. The Frenzy mutation turns perfect blocking off, so if your blocks stop stunning, check whether it's active. Early on, pairing a one-handed weapon with a shield gives you both attack and defense from one setup.

Bows, Greatbows and Arrows

Bows are the ranged weapons, and the arrow you load sets the base damage. Each bow then adds a multiplier on top, so both the bow and the arrow shape how hard you hit. A shot released at full charge is a perfect shot, which adds damage and stun, and on special arrows it also builds up their status effects faster.

Standard bows draw quickly and have looser timing, and their multiplier boosts every arrow you fire. Greatbows are the heavier version. They draw slowly and need tighter timing for perfect shots, and their multiplier only applies to charged shots, but they fire the stronger Great Arrows.

Special arrows add effects such as chill, burn, shock and stun. Many mid-game ones are built from Feather Arrows, so it pays to keep a stock of those. Arrows you shoot can be collected afterward and reused, so you don't have to craft a fresh stack every time.

Candy Staves and Their Effects

Candy staves are the magic-style weapons of the game, and they fire globs of goo instead of arrows. You hold the attack button to charge, then release, and a fuller charge deals more damage. They don't use arrow damage or bow multipliers, so what sets each staff apart is the effect it carries.

Each staff is built around a candy flavor. Spicy staves leave burning goo that applies Sizzle, minty ones chill, and sour ones build up Tang. Staves are crafted from matching shards such as Spicy Shard and Mint Shard, so the ingredients you use decide what the staff does. A few, such as the Cane-tipede, lean on venom instead.

Turret Ammo: Choosing the Right Rounds

Turret ammo is the ammunition that loads into turrets, such as the Acorn Turret. Each round changes how the turret fights, so the right pick depends on what's coming at you. Some rounds are built for raw power, like the explosive ones that hit hard in a single shot.

Others handle specific jobs. Some stun or ground flying insects, some knock enemies back, and some slow crawling ones. A few fire fast, small hits for steady pressure.

The turret won't fire on its own, so you aim and shoot it yourself. Placing it on higher ground helps, since you can spot enemies climbing toward it before they arrive.

The Omni-Tool and How It Works

The Omni-Tool replaces the old set of separate tools. It combines an axe, hammer, shovel and wrench into one item, and it has clippers as well. You don't pick a mode. You walk up to the thing you want to work on, such as grass or a rock, and the right function is one button press away.

You find the Omni-Tool in the main story at the Snackbar Ranger Outpost, where it hangs on a wall in plain view. Because basic tools were removed, weapons now only handle combat, and the Omni-Tool takes care of gathering and repairs.

Each function has its own upgrade path, unlocked at terminals inside Ranger Stations. Upgrades cost Raw Science along with rare parts from bugs, and higher tiers unlock harder materials. Some hidden weapons and areas need a certain tier before you can reach them, so upgrading the right function can open up new gear.

How to Get Weapons in Grounded 2

Most weapons unlock by analyzing a specific item, and some open up at set Brainpower levels. Most are then crafted at a workbench from materials you gather while exploring, and each one has its own recipe. A few early options can be made without a workbench at all.

Some recipes are hidden in Data Items you find in the world. The Spicy Coaltana, for example, needs the Charred Recipe, and the Northern Shredders need the Cryptic Recipe. Others turn up in crates and stashes, like the Crimson Avenger in a Memorial Crate.

Stranger weapons are stronger versions of existing weapons, made by the Masked Stranger and tucked away in secret areas. Their recipes only unlock after you've found the weapon once, so crafting them mostly matters if you lose one or play in multiplayer. Every weapon also lists its own repair materials, so keep a few spares on hand.

Which Weapons Are Worth Your Time

Early on, the Pebblet Spear is only meant to get you through the tutorial, so upgrade as soon as you can. The Larvalance is a cheap step up and pairs well with a Weevil Shield. The Red Ant Club is one of the strongest early two-handers, with high damage that makes up for its slow swing.

Further in, the Spicy Coaltana and the Mantis Blade are the two-handers worth chasing. The Mantis Blade leans toward pure damage, while the Spicy Coaltana is well rounded and adds a burn effect. Among dual wield weapons, the Ice Sickles stand out for their chilling effect.

Some picks suit specific jobs. The Wolf Stringer is the strongest bow for stats, and the Pinch Whacker has very high stun.

When you compare weapons, look past the damage number. Speed, critical chance, stun and special effects all change how a weapon feels in a fight, and some are much harder to get than others. Your armor and mutations can shift the best choice too.

FAQ

Q.

Where do I find the Bushwacker bow?

The Bushwacker is a stronger version of the Spider Stringer with a Cheap Shot effect, and it's hidden on Pine Hill. You can only reach it with an Orb Weaver Buggy, so you'll need one before you go looking. If you lose it, you can craft it again from a Spider Stringer, a Nifty Needle and 2 O.R.C. Receivers.

Q.

What is Dash Strike in Grounded 2?

Dash Strike is a heavy attack for dual wield weapons. It sends you in a short dash toward where you aim, closing the gap for a big hit, and it's especially handy against enemies that dash or block a lot, such as mites and soldier ants. The Dual Dasher trait boosts damage on these dashes and comes with the Weaver armor set, while the Assassin mutation raises critical chance for dual daggers and sickles.

Q.

How do I repair a weapon in Grounded 2?

Each weapon needs its own repair materials, listed with the weapon itself. The Toenail Cutlass is repaired with 2 Toenail and 1 Gold Foil, while the Cricket Lute Bow takes 1 Cricket Part and 1 Lint Rope. Keeping a stock of these parts saves you a trip back when a favorite weapon needs fixing.

Q.

Where do I find the Ice Sickles?

The Ice Sickles are tied to the Ice Cream Cart, a snowy area in the south of the map. You have to survive waves of scorpions there. Crafting the weapon takes 2 Mint Globs, 2 Northern Scorpion Pincers and 6 Northern Scorpion Chunks at a workbench.
