How Trailers Work in Farming Simulator 25
A trailer can't move on its own, so it always needs a tractor or truck to pull it. Between them, the trailer and its towing vehicle carry your harvest, animal feed and raw materials to where they're needed, whether that's storage, a selling point or a factory.
Every machine has a power requirement, and a tractor that falls short will make the work hard going. For crops, a medium-power tractor from the store is enough to pull a trailer, and a truck with a trailer also works.
How to Choose the Right Trailer
Start with the cargo, not the size. A trailer's capacity only counts for the loads it accepts, so a large trailer that can't carry your crop is no use to you. Once you know what you're moving, compare the capacity, the base price and the power the trailer needs to be pulled.
Tipper trailers, which handle most field crops, matter most early on. A trailer is one of the first machines a new farmer should own, since the crops you harvest need one to reach selling points or factories. If your fields are spread out, a bigger trailer is worth the extra money, because it means fewer trips back and forth.
Liquid Tank, Livestock and Log Trailers
Liquids need tanks, and each tank trailer is set up for specific liquids. Slurry and digestate go in slurry tanks, which you use to spread them on fields. Other tanks carry cow and buffalo milk, water, liquid fertilizer, herbicide or fuel, so check what a tank accepts before you fill it.
Livestock trailers carry cows, pigs, sheep and horses. Some take a mix of cows, pigs and sheep, while horses have a trailer of their own, so the animal you're moving decides which one you need.
Log trailers carry cut logs to a sawmill, where they become wooden planks. Those planks can go on to a carpentry shop for furniture, which earns far more than selling raw logs does.
Grape, Cotton, Sugarcane and Header Trailers
Standard crop tippers leave grapes off their list, so grapes need trailers made just for them. Grape trailers come in different sizes, and they carry grapes and nothing else.
Cotton leaves the field as modules or bales, and the cotton trailers are made to carry either. The range includes tag trailers, a wheelie grab, and module trailers, including a semi version.
Sugarcane has its own trailers, and header trailers carry a harvester header or cutter unit.
Auger Wagons and Towing Power
Auger wagons are built for bulk loads such as grains, seeds, solid fertilizer, root crops, sugar beet, and forage like grass and hay. They're made to hold large amounts, and the range runs from smaller wagons up to very big ones.
Towing is the key question with these. Most auger wagons list the power they need, and it varies a lot from one wagon to the next, so check that against the tractor you plan to use before you buy.
Some auger wagons are designed to unload into a second trailer or truck, which matters if you plan to move the load on. The Convey-All CST 1550 can be hauled by a truck or a dolly.
Swap Body Systems and the Annaburger Chassis

Semi trailers are the heavy haulers in this group. Most are built for grain and crops, while others carry pallets and big bags or shipping containers, and those need a compatible towing vehicle.
Low loaders are made for farm machinery and vehicles, not crops or bulk goods. They're the choice when a machine needs to be moved from one place to another.
Dollies and carriers help move farm equipment and trailer loads rather than crops. That makes them more of a helper than a hauler.
How to Buy, Lease or Borrow Trailers
You buy trailers in the shop, and the listed price is the base price. Some trailers come with bigger bodies or extensions, and choosing those can change the price, so the base price is where you start rather than the final cost. You can set up a trailer when you buy it, and if you want to change the setup later, bring it to the marked area in front of the machinery dealer and use the matching symbol.
Leasing is another route. You can lease machines instead of buying them, and it's worth a look for the expensive trailers in particular.
Contracts offer a way to use trailers without owning them. On a contract job you can bring your own machines or borrow the equipment the job calls for, which also lets you try out a trailer before you spend money on one.
Trailers wear down over time. Take them to the machinery dealer or your vehicle workshop to pay for repairs.
How to Sell Crops With a Trailer
Any trailer built for bulk materials will do the job for moving crops. Line up at the harvester so its unloading pipe sits over the trailer, then start the unload using the key listed in your game settings.
Once the trailer is full, you can drive it to a selling point or a factory, or take it to a silo for storage. Storing is useful if you'd rather wait out a dip in prices, since prices shift over the year.
Press Esc to open the main menu, then open the price menu. It lists every crop alphabetically and shows where each one can be sold and what it pays. If a train icon sits next to a selling point, you'll need to rent a train to get the crop there.
Pick the selling point with the best price and mark it on the map, then follow the red marker to get there. When you arrive, drive onto its property and press I to unload. Your balance goes up as soon as the sale goes through.

Which crops can a trailer carry?
Standard crop tippers take every harvested crop except grapes, plus cut sugar beet, chaff, silage, grass, hay, straw, fertilizer, seed and animal feed. Grapes go in their own trailers, and some forage trailers and wagons take a narrower list, so check the fill type in the shop before you buy.
What do a trailer's capacity, weight and power numbers mean?
Capacity is how much the trailer holds, given in litres or cubic metres depending on the trailer. Weight is how heavy the trailer is when empty, and max fill weight is the recommended top load. Required power is the engine power the towing vehicle needs to run the trailer properly, and for livestock trailers the number shows which animals fit and how many.
Do forage harvesters need a trailer?
Yes. A forage harvester has no tank of its own, so it has to be accompanied by a tractor and trailer while it works. Combines hold their harvest in a tank, but forage harvesters don't.
Can a trailer be filled straight from a silo?
Yes. Drive up to the silo and you'll be prompted to start an automatic unloading into the trailer. If the crop is on the ground under a shed instead, you'll need specialized equipment with a bucket to load it.
