Dyson Sphere Program is a space factory game where you build automated production lines to make the parts, buildings and gear you need to expand your base. Assembly and advanced recipes are the formulas those lines run on, each turning a set of ingredients into a finished item. Most are made in Assembling Machines, while a few need special buildings such as the Matrix Lab or Ray Receiver. Some items also have a second, advanced route with different ingredients.

How Assembly Recipes Work in Dyson Sphere Program
An assembly recipe is a set of inputs that a machine turns into finished items over a set amount of time. Assembling Machines do most of the work. Once they have the right items, they craft on their own, so you keep them fed with belts or storage rather than crafting by hand. Icarus, your character, can hand-craft some recipes in the Replicator, but automated production always runs through the building named in the recipe.
Assembling Machines come in three tiers, Mk.I, Mk.II and Mk.III, and the Re-composing Assembler uses the same recipes at its own speed. The times listed on each recipe are base times, measured at the speed of an Assembling Machine Mk.II. A Mk.I works at about three-quarters of that speed, a Mk.III at one and a half times, and the Re-composing Assembler at three times. So a recipe listed at 4 seconds takes about 5.3 seconds in a Mk.I, which matters when you size a production line.
Tiers also differ in power use. Mk.I machines draw less power, so they make sense when energy is tight, and you can upgrade when speed or floor space becomes the limit. A storage buffer between fast producers and the machines that use their output keeps a short dip in supply from stalling the line. A Traffic Monitor can warn you when a supply belt falls below what the line needs.
Standard and Advanced Recipes Explained
Some items can be made in more than one way. The game tags the alternate routes as advanced, or as original in one case, but they all make the same item from a different set of ingredients. The differences can be big. A Particle Container can be made from Unipolar Magnets and Copper Ingots instead of Electromagnetic Turbines and Graphene, and a Photon Combiner can use one Optical Grating Crystal and a Circuit Board instead of two Prisms and a Circuit Board.
Yield can differ too. The advanced Space Warper turns one Gravity Matrix into eight Space Warpers, while the standard recipe turns one Graviton Lens into one. The advanced Crystal Silicon recipe makes two Crystal Silicon from one Fractal Silicon in a single batch.
Which route is better depends on what your factory already makes well. If one ingredient is easy to supply and another is hard, the other route may suit you better. Read the inputs and outputs of each recipe before you rebuild a line around it.
How to Unlock Assembly Recipes
You don't have every recipe from the start. Most are locked behind a research technology and open once that tech is finished. Some are available from the start, including Gear, Circuit Board and Magnetic Coil, so you can begin crafting before you research anything.
Machine tiers follow the same pattern. Assembling Machine Mk.I, Mk.II and Mk.III unlock through Basic Assembling, High-Speed Assembling and Quantum Printing, and the Re-composing Assembler opens with Matter Recombination. Some advanced routes open with the same research as their standard recipe, while others, like the advanced Space Warper, need a different tech.
Plan your research around the machines you want to run. A recipe stays out of reach until its tech is done, so it pays to work toward the technologies behind the machines and parts your factory depends on most.
Building Recipes and Machine Upgrades
Building recipes are the ones that make the parts of your base itself. That covers belts, sorters, storage, power plants, turrets, mining machines and the Matrix Lab. They are crafted in Assembling Machines like any other item, so the machines you can build set the pace for what you can expand next.
The assembler upgrades show how these chains stack. Assembling Machine Mk.II needs a Mk.I along with Graphene and Processors, and Mk.III needs a Mk.II plus Particle Broadband and Quantum Chips. The Re-composing Assembler needs a Mk.III along with Matter Recombinators, Energy Shards and Quantum Chips. Each faster machine is built from the one before it, so you can't skip ahead.
Other building recipes cover power, logistics, mining and defense. Solar Panels, Wind Turbines, Thermal Power Plants and Mini Fusion Power Plants generate power, and the logistics group covers belts, sorters, depots and logistics stations. Mining Machines and turrets fill out the rest.
Research Matrices and the Matrix Lab
Research matrices are colored items that drive technology research. A Matrix Lab can make them in production mode, and it can use them to research technologies in research mode. Electromagnetic Matrices are blue, Energy Matrices red, Structure Matrices yellow, Information Matrices purple and Gravity Matrices green. The white Universe Matrix is used for the highest-tier research.
The early matrices are simple. An Electromagnetic Matrix needs a Circuit Board and a Magnetic Coil, while an Energy Matrix needs Energetic Graphite and Hydrogen. Higher tiers ask for more. A Gravity Matrix takes a Graviton Lens and a Quantum Chip and makes two per craft, and the Universe Matrix combines one of each of the other matrices with an Antimatter.
Higher matrices take longer to make, so each tier needs more labs to keep the same pace. Labs can be stacked vertically to save space, but the lab count has to match your supply. For scale, a full belt of Electromagnetic Matrices needs roughly 18 Matrix Labs, and a full belt of Energy Matrices needs roughly 36. Underbuilding the line leaves labs sitting idle.
Miniature Particle Collider Recipes: Antimatter and Strange Matter
Late-game production leans heavily on the Miniature Particle Collider. It turns Hydrogen into Deuterium at a rate of 10 Hydrogen for 5 Deuterium, and Deuterium goes into items such as fuel rods and plasma capsules.
Antimatter is the big prize from the collider. Its Mass-energy Storage recipe turns 2 Critical Photons into 2 Antimatter and 2 Hydrogen, so Critical Photons from a Ray Receiver feed straight into it.
Strange Matter is the other main output. It takes 2 Particle Containers, 2 Iron Ingots and 10 Deuterium, and it goes into the Graviton Lens and heavy combat recipes like the Destroyer and Gravity Missile Set.
Ray Receiver and Energy Exchanger Recipes
A Ray Receiver collects energy from a Dyson Sphere, or from a Dyson Swarm made of solar sails around the star. It works in two modes. Energy Generation sends power straight into your local grid, while Photon Generation turns that energy into Critical Photons. Dirac Inversion Mechanism research unlocks Photon Generation and the Mass-energy Storage recipe.
The output isn't fixed. It depends on how well the receiver is lined up with its source, how long it has kept receiving without a break, and whether it has a Graviton Lens. A new receiver starts with no continuous receiving bonus and builds up to the full level over about 20 minutes. Placement counts too, since the receiver needs a clear line of sight to its source, and on planets with a low tilt the poles are the most reliable spots.
Once Planetary Ionosphere Utilization is researched, a Graviton Lens can be inserted to raise output. The lens also lets the receiver collect reflected energy through the planet's ionosphere, so it can work in many more locations. Lenses are used up about once every 10 minutes in either mode, so they need a steady supply.
The Energy Exchanger works with Accumulators, the storage units for power. In charge mode it fills an empty Accumulator, and in discharge mode it empties a charged one and sends the power to the grid. Charged Accumulators can be shipped through logistics, which makes the Energy Exchanger a way to move power over long distances, and both modes unlock with Interstellar Power Transmission.
Which Assembly Recipes Matter Most
Some recipes come up again and again, so they're worth knowing early. Circuit Boards and Gears are basic parts that show up in research, machines and many buildings. Magnetic Coils are an early electrical part for power structures and machines.
Later on, Processors and Quantum Chips carry more of the load. Processors go into machines, logistics and Dyson Sphere production, while Quantum Chips show up in research, sphere construction and logistics. Quantum Chips also feed the top assembler upgrades and the Gravity Matrix.
For a Dyson Sphere, the key pieces are Frame Material and Dyson Sphere Components. Small Carrier Rockets add structure points to the sphere once they're launched from a Vertical Launching Silo, and Solar Sails can form a Dyson Swarm or add points to a sphere.
Proliferators are a spray that boosts production when a Spray Coater puts it on items moving along a belt. Each stronger version needs the one before it, so Mk.II uses Mk.I and Mk.III uses Mk.II.
Ammo and Turret Recipes for Defense
Turrets are the defenses you place against Dark Fog, the hostile force that attacks your base, and each one runs on its own ammunition. The Magnum Ammo Box feeds Gauss Turrets, Shell Sets feed Implosion Cannons, Plasma Capsules feed Plasma Turrets and Missile Sets feed Missile Turrets. Several of these also work in Icarus's weapon slot, so the same recipes support you in the field.
Upgraded versions follow the same pattern. Titanium and Superalloy Ammo Boxes are stronger bullets for Gauss Turrets, Crystal and High-Explosive Shell Sets are stronger shells for Implosion Cannons, and Supersonic and Gravity Missile Sets give Missile Turrets stronger missiles. Drones and ships are crafted the same way, with the Prototype and Precision Drone joining Icarus's ground fleet and the Corvette and Destroyer serving its space fleet.
FAQ
What should I craft first in Dyson Sphere Program?
Gear, Circuit Board and Magnetic Coil are open from the start, and they're the parts the earliest machines are built from. An Assembling Machine Mk.I needs 4 Iron Ingots, 8 Gears and 4 Circuit Boards, and a Tesla Tower needs 2 Iron Ingots and a Magnetic Coil. Setting up those basics first gets you the machines that make everything else.
What is a Graviton Lens used for?
Its recipe needs 4 Diamonds and 1 Strange Matter. It goes into Space Warpers, which let Icarus and Logistics Vessels make interstellar warp trips, and it's one of the inputs for the Vertical Launching Silo, which needs 20 of them. It is also used in the Dark Fog Lens, an upgraded Ray Receiver lens that takes 12 Dark Fog Matrices.
What is Antimatter used for in Dyson Sphere Program?
Besides the Universe Matrix, antimatter goes into two items for Icarus. The Antimatter Capsule is a throwable energy weapon, and the Antimatter Fuel Rod is a dense fuel for Icarus and Artificial Stars. The Antimatter Fuel Rod is also an ingredient in the top-tier Strange Annihilation Fuel Rod.
