Mounts are animals you can ride in Conan Exiles, the survival game set in the world of Conan the Barbarian. Riding gets you across the big map far faster than running, and some mounts let you fight from their backs. Horses, camels and rhinos each play a different role, so it pays to know what each one is for.

How Mounts Work in Conan Exiles
Mounts are animals that you raise or tame, then fit with a saddle before you can ride them. Riding takes you across the map much faster than running, and it lets you fight from the saddle. Mounted players can swing swords and axes, shoot bows, or aim a lance for a charge.
How to Get and Raise a Horse in Conan Exiles
Horses start as foals, and you have to find one out in the world. Pick it up and it goes into your inventory, where it can't be ridden yet. To raise it, you need a Stable, which works like an Animal Pen but only takes horses.
Once the foal is inside with food, it grows into a full horse after a while, and then you can saddle and ride it.
Choosing a Saddle for Your Horse
Saddles come in several types, and each one trades speed, handling and defense against each other. Each horse also has its own stats, so raise a few and keep the one that suits how you play. Think about whether you mostly travel or mostly fight before you pick a saddle.
Rhinos and the Isle of Siptah
Rhinos are the fighting mount, and you need the Isle of Siptah expansion to craft a standard rhino saddle. You tame grey rhinos, and some variants come from feeding them a special fodder from the expansion. A rhino charges with its horn while you sprint, and it can attack with the horn when you're running or standing still.
You can also shoot bows and aim spears from its back. The trade-off is speed, since a rhino is not as quick or nimble as a horse. It does have more hit points, though, and it can take more punishment before it throws you off. As it levels, it can gain perks like Meat Wall and Thick Hide, but strong enemies are still hard to escape on its back.
Camels Are Built for Hauling
Camels play a different role from horses and rhinos, because they're built for hauling rather than fighting. A grown camel has its own large inventory, which makes moving materials back to your base much easier. You buy a camel calf from a trader instead of finding one in the world. Then you raise it in an Animal Pen by feeding it plant fiber until it grows up.
Mounts From Packs and the Black Lotus Bazaar
Not every mount comes with the base game. The Riders of Hyboria pack adds black and white horse coats and new saddles, including the Silent Legion saddle. These extras are for looks only, and you don't need the pack to ride a horse.
Other mounts, such as the undead horses, started as Age of Sorcery battle pass rewards and now come from the Black Lotus Bazaar.
Which Mount Should You Choose?
Start with a horse. Horses were the first mounts added to the game, they need no expansion, and they're faster than rhinos. Pick a rhino once you own the Isle of Siptah and want a tougher fighter. Choose a camel when hauling is your main problem, since its inventory is its biggest strength.
