Find an available Survival
Standard Survival arenas belong to the regular GTA Online selection and can be started from the Survival area of the Jobs menu when the mode is available to your character. Event-added means an arena arrived during a named event or release period; it does not automatically mean the job disappears when that event ends.
The Project 4808 arenas are the important exception. Terminal, Ranch, Grapeseed, Desert, Arena, Pillbox, and Zancudo belong to a periodic Halloween rotation, so they may be absent outside their seasonal return. If one of those names is missing from the Jobs menu, changing sessions will not create an inactive rotation.
Read the location before the later waves
Every Survival uses the same basic test: hold the area through escalating waves while managing ammunition, movement, and cover. The location changes how that test feels. Farmhouse, Forest, Quarry, Underpass, Nuclear Silo, Ludendorff Cemetery, and Cayo Perico place the fight in very different surroundings, even though the mode label remains Survival.
Treat the opening wave as a chance to learn the arena. Identify hard cover, the directions enemies can approach from, and a fallback position before the pressure rises. A spot that blocks one angle but leaves several open approaches is shelter, not a plan.
Avoid chasing a distant enemy so far that you give up the position keeping the team alive. If you move between waves, do it to improve cover, collect what you need, or reset a bad angle. With a crew, spread the firing lanes without isolating a player beyond quick help.
Prepare for a full run
Restock ammunition and armor before launching, then choose weapons that let you handle both close pressure and targets across the arena. Later waves leave less room to fix a poor starting position, so survival depends as much on cover discipline and retreat routes as raw damage.
Agree on a defensive area early when playing with others. Several players competing for one corner can block movement and expose the same flank. Nearby positions with overlapping sightlines give the team room to recover without turning every enemy approach into four separate emergencies.
Release groups and rotations
The original arenas form the standard foundation of the mode. Survival Series Week and Survivals Week added further city, industrial, and rural settings, while later releases introduced Ludendorff Cemetery and Cayo Perico. These release labels explain when each arena joined GTA Online; they are not a live event calendar.
Check Availability separately from Added in. An event-added Survival can remain selectable beyond its debut period, while a periodic Halloween Survival depends on the seasonal rotation returning. That distinction prevents a release label from being mistaken for a guarantee that the job is active today.
