How to survive the Spider Event in Keep the Door Locked (Anomaly)

Updated on August 14, 2026 (2 minutes ago)

Ceiling spiders can show up mid-night in Keep the Door Locked (Anomaly) and shred Sanity if you stand under a pop. They are a room threat, not a door-lock visitor. Clear them before you sleep. Other Roblox anomaly rooms scratch a similar itch, like the Home Alone anomalies list or how to detect anomalies in Animal Hospital, but the hotel spiders play by their own rules.

How to survive the Spider Event in Keep the Door Locked (Anomaly)

Spiders crawl the ceiling and explode for Sanity damage

The Spider Event is an in-room pest night, often after the earliest nights (many runs see it after Night 2). Spiders crawl or sit on the ceiling. Some look like they carry giant egg sacs on their backs. Only a small group shows up at a time.

They make a noise or chirp, then explode. Standing under a spider when it pops deals Sanity damage. Hit zero Sanity and the run is over. The blast is not a chase grab and not a hallway lock test.

Warning signs to watch for:

  • Cobwebs in the room corners
  • Spiders on the ceiling or light fixtures
  • Scratchy or chirp-like audio before a pop
  • Two hazmat-suited visitors knocking with a ceiling-spider warning

The baseball bat does not swat them. Move your feet, not your swing. In Story mode the event is usually a single-night problem; Endless can bring it back later.

Let the hazmat visitors in, or wait the spiders out

When two people in yellow hazmat suits knock, check them at the peephole. They often introduce themselves as hazmat operatives and warn about movement above the ceiling. That knock pairs with cobwebs and the ceiling pests.

Best path (cleaner clear): let the hazmat team in. Guides report they thank you, then place gas bags by the bed that force spiders to explode on a schedule you can step away from. Stay off the floor tiles under each spider until every one has burst.

  1. Hear the knock, open the peephole, and confirm two hazmat suits with spider dialogue.
  2. Open the door and let them work.
  3. Watch the ceiling and step aside whenever a spider is about to pop under you.

Alt path: skip the helpers if you locked them out or never saw them. Keep moving so you are never standing under a live spider. After they appear and roam, they tend to pop on their own within about ten seconds. Wait until the ceiling is empty, then go back to guests and sleep.

Either way, the event is clear when no spiders remain overhead. Do not bed down while the ceiling is still live. Explosions happen whether or not you stand under them; the Sanity hit only lands if you are on the wrong spot when they detonate.

FAQ

Q.

Can the Spider Event end your run in Keep the Door Locked?

Yes. Each blast under you drains Sanity. If Sanity hits zero, the run fails. Step aside before they pop and you can ride the event out.

Q.

Do I have to let the hazmat visitors in?

No. Waiting them out works if you stay off tiles under the spiders until every one bursts. Letting the hazmat team in is the cleaner path when they knock with the spider warning.

Q.

Can the baseball bat kill the spiders?

No. The bat does not clear ceiling spiders. Move out from under them (or let hazmat gas force the pops) instead of swinging.
