All 22 Anomalies in Home Alone

Updated on (1 day ago)

Someone knocks, and their story sounds almost right. In Home Alone, every door visitor can be a real person or an Anomaly wearing the same face, so you verify the claim before you open up. Each visitor has a main tell: a house object, laptop cameras, night vision, voice, outside view, or something you can see on them at the door.

House Checks

4 items

These visitors claim something is wrong inside the house. Stay locked, walk to the object they named (cat by the bed, oven, bath faucet, or sink), then decide. If the house matches the story, open the door; if it does not, turn the porch light off.

Cat Lady

Cat Lady

House check first. Black cat by the bed is safe; white cat means reject with the porch light.

Detect by
House check
Request
Wants her missing black cat back from your parents' bedroom.
Anomaly signs
Before you open up, check the parents' bedroom. A white cat next to the bed means she is lying about a black cat.
Best action
Open the door and return the black cat if it matches. Turn the porch light off if the cat is white.
Appearance
Girl with black hair and a cropped tee.
Safe signs
A black cat is waiting next to the bed, matching her story.

Firefighter

Always verify the oven before you trust a firefighter at the door.

Detect by
House check
Request
Claims smoke is coming from your oven and needs to put the fire out.
Anomaly signs
Check the oven. No smoke means the firefighter story is fake.
Best action
Open the door if the oven is smoking. Turn the porch light off if there is no smoke.
Appearance
Tall man in full firefighter gear.
Safe signs
Smoke is actually coming from the oven, matching the claim.

Plumber

Confirm the leaky bath faucet before you let the plumber in.

Detect by
House check
Request
Says he was called to fix a leaky bath faucet.
Anomaly signs
Check the bath faucet. If nothing is leaking, he is an Anomaly.
Best action
Open the door if the faucet is leaking. Turn the porch light off if it is dry.
Appearance
Man with a moustache in a black shirt, carrying a red toolbox.
Safe signs
The bath faucet is leaking water, matching the repair story.

City Maintenance

Sink check decides this one: brown water is real, no water is fake.

Detect by
House check
Request
Claims the water has turned brown and needs to fix it.
Anomaly signs
Run the sink. No water at all means he is an Anomaly.
Best action
Open the door if the sink water is brown. Turn the porch light off if nothing comes out.
Appearance
Man in overalls and a hard hat.
Safe signs

Camera Checks

Safe signs
He is visible on the cameras like a normal visitor.

Dog Owner

Check the backyard camera before you believe the dog story.

Detect by
Cameras
Request
Wants to collect his dog from your backyard.

How the door loop works

When someone knocks, talk through the door and listen to what they want. Most visitors have two forms: a safe one that matches their story, and an Anomaly form that fails a specific check. Your job is to prove the story before you open the door.

If they are real, open up and deal with the request (return a cat, fix a leak, give water, and so on). If they are fake, turn the porch light off (the switch sits to the right of the door). That is how you reject them. Letting an Anomaly in drains Sanity. Rejecting a real visitor also hurts Sanity, so guessing is expensive either way.

Checks that save runs

  • House checks: Leave the door closed, walk to the object they mentioned (bedside cat, oven, bath faucet, sink), then come back with an answer.
  • Cameras: Use the laptop in the front room. Some fakes smile when they should cry, dance on the step, vanish from the feed, bark in the backyard, glitch the audio, or smash your mum's car on a side cam.
  • Night vision: Toggle night vision on the laptop feed. Faces mash into the lens, height jumps, human suits become aliens, small kids go giant, or a head snaps forward.
  • Voice: Stay at the door and keep listening. Demonic flips, melodic echoes, or a voice that does not match the body are all reject signals.
  • Outside and looks: Peek for a police car vs a beat-up van, or check whether a streamer is actually holding a phone.

Easy mistakes

Do not open because the outfit looks official. Firefighters, plumbers, cops, and agents all have fake versions. Do not skip the laptop when a visitor is camera-based; the front-door view alone is not enough for every tell. Night vision and normal cam should be compared side by side when height or form is the clue.

A few rules break the dual-form pattern. The Vampire has no documented safe form, so keep the porch light off and refuse the invite. The Goblin Stalker is not a door visitor at all: it jumpscares you around the house and cannot hurt you, so ignore it and keep working the door.

When you are unsure, re-run the check the visitor is known for before you touch the handle. One clean verify is safer than a fast open.

FAQ

Q.

How do you reject an Anomaly in Home Alone?

Turn the porch light off. The switch is to the right of the door. That refuses the visitor without opening up.

Q.

What happens if you let the wrong visitor in?

Admitting an Anomaly lowers your Sanity. Rejecting a real visitor also hurts Sanity, so always verify the specific tell before you open or kill the light.

Q.

Where do you check cameras and night vision?

Use the laptop in the front room. Normal camera views cover the door, backyard, and other spots; night vision is a toggle on that same feed for several visitors.

Q.

Can a visitor be both real and an Anomaly?

Yes for most door visitors. The same face can show up with matching evidence (safe) or failed evidence (Anomaly). Run the check for that visitor every time instead of memorizing one answer forever.

Q.

Is the Vampire ever safe to invite in?

No safe form is documented. Treat every vampire invitation as an Anomaly: keep the porch light off and do not invite them inside.

Q.

Does the Goblin Stalker end your run?

No. It is a house jumpscare, not a door visitor, and it cannot harm you. Spooky only: keep working the door checks.
