All 60 Goods and Resources in Timberborn

Updated on November 1, 2026 (3 days ago)

Goods are the resources that keep a Timberborn settlement running. They include the food beavers eat, the ingredients that food is made from, the materials you build with, and the water and badwater that flow across your land. Every good has to be made or gathered, carried by your workers, and stored until something needs it. Once you understand that cycle, the rest of your settlement starts to make more sense.

How Goods Are Made and Moved in Timberborn

Goods come from two kinds of buildings. Gathering buildings pull raw goods out of the land, such as a Lumberjack Flag that cuts logs or a Tapper's Shack that collects pine resin. Processing buildings then turn those goods into something new, and many goods pass through more than one step.

Your workers haul goods between buildings and storage, and weight matters here. Scrap metal is one of the heaviest goods to haul. A good only helps once it reaches the building or beaver that needs it, so moving goods is just as important as making them.

Food: What Beavers Eat and Why It Matters

Food keeps beavers from starving. Most foods satisfy hunger and also meet a nutrition need, which adds between one and three points of well-being. Berries only fill hunger, so they add nothing to well-being.

Variety matters too. A wider range of foods raises well-being, so it's worth growing and making more than one kind of food. Food doesn't spoil, so a stockpile stays useful for as long as you keep it.

Ingredients: The Raw Goods Behind Your Food

Ingredients are the raw goods that food and other goods are made from, and beavers can't eat them as they are. Wheat, potatoes, cassava and corn all start here. A Grill, Gristmill, Bakery, Fermenter or Food Factory turns them into food or flour, and a few ingredients go into other goods instead.

Most ingredients go into warehouses, so you can build up a supply. Each faction has its own crops, though. Folktails grow wheat and potatoes, while Iron Teeth grow corn, soybeans and cassava, so the foods you can make depend on your faction.

Dandelions are a Folktails ingredient that beavers can't eat directly. They're made into Antidotes, which heal beavers sickened by badwater.

Materials: What You Build With

Materials are what your settlement is built from. Planks and metal blocks go into construction, and many buildings also need gears, which are made from planks. Some materials are used in recipes for other goods.

Metal starts with scrap metal from scavenger flags and mines. A smelter turns it into metal blocks, and Iron Teeth refine it into metal parts at a Metalsmith.

Water: The Good Beavers Can't Live Without

Water is the most essential good in Timberborn. Beavers need it to stay alive, and without it they die of dehydration. Water pumps collect it from the map and send it to your tanks.

Droughts are where stored water matters most. A drought stops water from flowing at its sources, so the only water left is what sits in your tanks and reservoirs. That makes a stored supply your safety net. Clean water also irrigates the land around it, which is what lets crops grow there.

Badwater: Dangerous Now, Useful Later

Badwater is a contaminated liquid that comes out of badwater sources on the map. Left uncontained, it can threaten crops, poison beavers and taint reservoirs, so it has to be kept away from your clean water. Beavers that walk or swim through it can become contaminated, too.

Badwater pumps, including the deeper versions, collect it and store it in tanks. During a badtide, the sources pour out badwater at full strength, and ordinary water sources can turn polluted too.

Badwater also has a useful side. A Centrifuge turns it into Extract, and an Explosives Factory turns it into Explosives. That makes badwater a problem to manage early and a valuable input later on.

Where Goods Are Stored

Solid goods go into warehouses and piles. A warehouse holds one kind of good that you choose, and haulers have to clear out the old goods before you switch it to something else. Piles are for bulk solids such as logs, dirt, planks and metal blocks.

Liquids go into tanks, and that includes badwater, grease and other fluids.

Which Goods Matter Most

Water and food come first, since beavers can't live without them. If your beavers are struggling, check those two before anything else. Logs and planks come next, because many buildings need them, and gears follow once you move on to more advanced buildings.

Once you reach the middle of the game, badwater becomes the good to watch. It can ruin your land, but it's also where Extract and Explosives begin.

FAQ

Q.

How much food should I keep in stock?

There's no set amount that fits every settlement, since it depends on how many beavers you have and how much food your buildings can make. Keep building your stock as your population grows, so a slowdown in production doesn't leave your beavers hungry.

Q.

Do Folktails and Iron Teeth use the same goods?

Both factions share the basics, such as logs, planks, gears and water. Folktails also make Antidotes, Bread and Books, while Iron Teeth make Metal Parts, Grease and Coffee.

Q.

Why do beavers crave coffee?

Coffee is an Iron Teeth good made from coffee beans at a Coffee Brewery. It doesn't fill hunger, but it meets a need, so beavers want it even when they aren't hungry. It also gives one of the strongest well-being boosts Iron Teeth can get.

Q.

Can bots get contaminated by badwater?

No. Bots can't be contaminated, though beavers can, so they're the safer workers to send near badwater.
