In Soulmask, a survival game, you fight wild creatures, enemy camps and other players with weapons you craft yourself. Weapon types are the broad families those weapons belong to, such as blades, spears, bows, hammers, shields and whips. Each family fights differently, from quick strikes up close to heavy swings or attacks from a distance, so the type you pick shapes how you play.

How Weapon Types and Their Skills Work
Every weapon type in Soulmask has its own skill tree, and it levels up separately from the others. You get better with a type by using it, and each one starts you with a single signature ability. New abilities unlock at proficiency levels 30, 60, 90 and 120, so your progress comes in steps rather than all at once.
Those unlocks are a chance roll rather than a sure thing, and the odds differ from one ability to the next. Which abilities you end up with is random, so two players using the same weapon can end up with different moves. The good news is that your progress stays with each type, so you can switch weapons without losing what you have built.
How to Get Weapons and Level Them Up
You make weapons by crafting them, and the spear is one of the easiest to make, which is part of why it's a common early pick. Leveling a type comes down to using it in real fights.
A weapon only gains progress while you're using it, so spreading your time across every type means each one grows slowly. It's better to pick a few that suit you and build them up.
Which Weapon Types Are Strongest
Rankings shift as the game gets patched, but the Greatsword and Dual Blades show up at the top more than any others. The Greatsword's wide, spinning slash can clear a group of monsters quickly, and its heavy damage makes up for a slow pace. Dual Blades are the opposite, stringing together rapid stabs with almost no downtime between attacks.
Gauntlets and bows also do well in their own ways. Gauntlets have moves that drain an enemy's stamina and knock them out of a block, while bows let you hit from a distance with little risk, though their damage can't match melee weapons.
Hammers hit hard but swing slowly, so they suit tough, armored targets better than fast ones. Rankings also differ depending on whether you're fighting monsters or other players, so think about which one you'll spend most of your time on.
Best Weapon for Beginners and How to Choose
If you're just starting out, a blade paired with a shield is a balanced choice. The blade does the attacking while the shield keeps you safe, which makes early fights less risky. A spear is another steady pick, since it lets you keep enemies at arm's length.
Shields are mostly for defense, so they work best alongside a blade or spear. If you like hunting from far away, bows are the way to go, and the Rich mask suits them well with its boost to arrow accuracy.
FAQ
What is the first ability a weapon gets?
Each weapon type starts you with one signature move, and they vary a lot. A blade's Tiger Strike is a lunging slash followed by a backward roll, and you're invulnerable during it.
Can you throw a spear in Soulmask?
Yes. Ultimate Throw, a Spear ability, hurls the spear in your hand and knocks the target down when it hits.
Are the best weapons different for fighting other players?
Yes, the order changes. Dual Blades stay near the top, and Gauntlets move up because their fast combos are so strong at close range. The Greatsword falls back, since it's slow to recover after its big attacks.
