SnowRunner is an open-world driving game where you take powerful off-road trucks through mud, snow, water and ice. Your work comes from contracts, which are jobs from businesses that want cargo carried to a set place, sometimes across more than one map. Tasks are one-time jobs you find while exploring, like rescuing a stuck vehicle or bringing supplies to fix a bridge, and they give you a reason to head into new ground. Optional timed contests reward you for finishing faster.
Before you set off, you need to know the land. Parts of each map start hidden in fog, and Watchtowers uncover large areas when you reach them, revealing contracts, tasks, upgrades and vehicles. Knowing where things are lets you plan a route and steer around the worst mud. Then comes the truck itself, since the money from jobs buys new trucks and upgrades in your garage, and a better rig can handle tougher ground.
The job itself is where everything comes together. You read the terrain, plan fuel and routes, and reach for tools like all-wheel drive, the differential lock and the winch when the ground turns against you. Finished work also raises your Driver Rank, which unlocks some trucks and add-ons, so your fleet keeps growing. The base game takes place in Michigan, Alaska and Taymyr, and Season 19 adds Switzerland on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch 2, while the original Switch version has content only through Season 16.

Trailers
Trailers let trucks and scouts tow cargo, logs, fuel, water, repair supplies, and mission equipment behind them. Drawbar trailers use a regular hitch, while semi-trailers need a low or high saddle depending on the model. Most regular trailers are sold at Trailer Store locations, while mission trailers come only with specific contracts and tasks.
Trucks
Trucks are the vehicles players use to haul cargo, explore the map and pull stranded vehicles out of trouble in SnowRunner. They fall into classes, including Scout, Offroad, Heavy, Heavy Duty and Highway, and each class is built with a different kind of job in mind. Each truck can be changed in the garage with upgrades such as tires, a winch, suspension and frame add-ons, and trucks are obtained from the store, found on the map or earned through missions.
SnowRunner gameplay tips
- Rebuild bridges and unlock roads near your starting area before you chase far-off jobs. A road can cut a long trip down a lot, so every later run gets quicker and easier to plan.
- Check the order listed in each job description before you load the truck. If you deliver the cargo out of order, the game won't accept it, and you'll have to repeat the run.
- Turn on all-wheel drive for steep slopes and deep mud, and switch it off once the ground is easier, since it uses more fuel. Save the differential lock for spots that need extra grip, because it keeps paired wheels turning together and makes fast turns harder to handle.
- If you get stuck, ease off the gas, drop to a lower gear, and gently nudge the truck free. Flooring it only spins the tires and digs you deeper into the mud or snow.
- Go easy on the gas while the winch is pulling. The winch runs on engine power, so pressing the accelerator at the same time burns fuel quickly.
- Before a long contract that crosses several maps, check your fuel. A fuel trailer takes you further, but you need the money for it and a truck strong enough to pull it. Otherwise, plan your route around fuel stations.
