All 90 mobs in Minecraft Java Edition

Updated on November 1, 2026 (about 5 hours ago)

Java mobs have different health, spawn conditions and interactions. Natural-spawn biomes help plan encounters, but structures, spawners and events can introduce creatures outside those biome entries.

Read health with variant notes

Health points are different from hearts. Size, traits or state can change an individual mob's health, so read the health note rather than assuming every variant has the base value. Difficulty and equipment can also affect a fight.

Separate feeding from breeding

A taming item and a breeding item do different jobs. Feeding may heal an animal or affect growth without making it breed. Possible drops also depend on conditions such as age, a player kill or enchantments. Command-only identities are marked separately from normal Survival encounters.

FAQ

Q.

Does a mob with no natural biome have no way to appear?

No. A structure, event, spawner or another encounter rule can provide a different route.
