You fight through endless waves of enemies and grow absurdly powerful in Megabonk, a 3D roguelike survival game. Each run starts fresh, and you begin by picking a hero, such as Fox, a ranged mage with a fire staff, or Sir Oofie, a melee knight. Your weapons fire on their own, so most of the skill comes from moving around the map and choosing the right upgrades.
Each run gives you about 10 minutes before an endless wave called the Final Swarm begins. Enemies drop XP orbs that fill your level bar, and each level-up lets you pick an upgrade, like a new weapon or a tome, which is a passive boost that stacks over the run. Along the way you look for shrines that hand out extra upgrades and the boss portal, which is how you reach the stage boss. Beating that boss either ends the run or sends you on to the next stage, depending on the tier you chose before starting, and higher tiers are much harder.
Even a run that goes badly earns Silver, and it's added to your account when the run ends. You spend it between runs to unlock new characters, weapons, and items. Each unlock gives you new builds to try, so the game keeps giving you reasons to start another run.

Characters
Megabonk's characters each bring a signature weapon, a passive ability that grows as you level up, and their own base stats. Fox and Sir Oofie are available from the start, while the rest unlock by meeting a specific goal and then buying them with Silver. Dicehead, CL4NK, Robinette and Megachad are the heroes most often named for long runs, and Sir Oofie and Megachad are among the easiest to learn on.
Weapons
Megabonk's weapons attack automatically, ranging from close-range slashes and piercing shots to area effects, orbiting rocks and traps. A handful start unlocked, while the rest are earned through challenges that test kills, skill or luck. Players gain new weapons through level-ups until their slots are full, and after that, level-ups upgrade the weapons they already carry.
Tomes
Tomes are passive upgrade items that boost your stats or improve your weapons. You pick them from level-up offers during a run, where they fill a limited number of Tome slots and level up each time you pick them again. Some Tomes are open from the start, while the rest each open once you finish a specific challenge. Each one works differently, so the best choice depends on your character and weapons.
Items
Items are the upgrades you collect during a run to make your character stronger, covering damage, health, speed and special effects like freezing or poisoning enemies. Items come in four rarity tiers, from Common to Legendary, and higher tiers are generally more powerful. Some are ready from the first run, while the rest must be unlocked by meeting a condition and buying them with Silver. You'll mostly find them in chests and from Shady Guy merchants during a run.

Megabonk gameplay tips
- Keep moving, and slide out of trouble. Standing still is one of the fastest ways to get boxed in, so circle the map and keep enemies in front of you. Circling also picks up more XP, and sliding with Ctrl helps when a crowd closes in.
- Pair a splash weapon with a single-target weapon. Splash damage clears groups, while a single-target weapon focuses on one enemy, so you can handle both crowds and tough enemies like bosses.
- Take healing and defense upgrades before chasing damage. Staying alive long enough lets your damage build matter, and skipping HP and defense is a common mistake.
- Clear nearby enemies and plan an exit before you touch a shrine. Some shrines call in elite enemies or send more enemies your way, so you need room to back off.
- Save power-ups for the moment they fit. Use Magnet after a big fight to pull in XP, Nuke when a swarm closes in, Protect before a risky shrine, and Rage during a boss fight. Each one works best at a specific moment, so using them early wastes their value.
- Banish upgrades that don't fit your build. Banish removes an upgrade from the pool for the rest of the run, so your future level-up choices stay focused on what works for you.
