Heists are GTA Online's multi-stage robberies, where setup missions, assigned crew roles, and a planned finale decide the payout.

How a heist runs
Most entries follow the same rhythm: the leader pays a setup cost, the crew plays through setup missions, then everyone loads into the finale. Setups teach the roles you will need at the end, so a rough setup usually means a rough finale. The raid entry works a little differently and plays through contact-style missions instead of the classic leader-funded structure.
Crews and approaches
Smaller jobs need a partner, while larger ones ask for a full crew with driving, shooting, flying, and hacking covered. The Casino job adds a real choice of approach, and each approach changes disguises, entry points, and how much stealth the crew must hold. Cayo Perico goes further and lets you scope the island first, then pick entry, escape, weapons, and tools around what you found.
First runs and repeats
First completions generally pay better than back-to-back repeats, with a weekly reset deciding when the stronger rate returns. Replays stay open, but expect to redo prep or setups each cycle and to share cuts with whoever joins. A practical habit is to finish one strand as leader before farming favorites, since that keeps unlocks, replay access, and crew expectations simple.
Mistakes worth avoiding
Do not start a finale short-handed or with an unclear cut split. Check the unlock rule on the row first, since some jobs need an apartment planning room or a property while others just need a phone call. For elite bonuses, play for time, accuracy, and keeping everyone alive rather than rushing; failed stealth or sloppy driving usually costs more than it saves.
FAQ
What do I need before I can host a heist?
Some jobs need Rank 12 plus a high-end apartment with a planning room, while Doomsday work needs a Facility and the island job needs a Kosatka. Other rows open through a contact call with no rank gate, so check the unlock field on the row you want.
Can I run heists solo?
Only some of them. The island job supports solo play from scoping through the finale, and the raid strand also works with a small crew. The classic apartment jobs and most Doomsday acts need at least a partner, with larger finales asking for a full crew.
How do setup costs work?
Leader-funded jobs ask the host to front a setup cost before the crew starts the setups. Property buy-ins sit outside that per-attempt fee, and the raid entry has no host setup cost at all.
Why do some payouts vary instead of showing one number?
Fixed jobs pay a set take that shifts with difficulty, while the Casino and island jobs pay from target and loot tables instead. First completions in a weekly window generally pay better than immediate repeats, so treat the row notes as planning ranges rather than a guaranteed split.
What are elite challenges?
Most operations have an elite bonus for finishing fast, clean, and with the full crew alive, plus optional objectives on some finales. The raid entry has no classic elite challenge and instead rewards mission-completion awards. Check the elite field on each row before planning a bonus run.
Can I replay a heist after finishing it?
Yes. Completed strands can be replayed, but prep or setups return each cycle and repeat payouts usually run lower until the weekly reset. Difficulty choice, approach, and target selection can all change the next run.
