All 16 Weather Types in Grow a Garden 2

Updated on (17 days ago)

Weather is Grow a Garden 2's slot machine in the sky. Every server shares the same forecast, and each event weather carries a mutation it can stamp onto random crops, from Electric strikes to Frozen snaps. The rarest rolls are the moons: two-minute night events that scatter special seeds, gild plants, and occasionally hand someone a Midas touch.

Time of Day

3 items

The base cycle every server runs. Night is short but is both the stealing window and the gate to every moon event.

Day

The default state of the sky, running seven and a half minutes per cycle. Nothing special happens, which is exactly when you plant and water.

Duration
7 minutes and 30 seconds

Sunset

A thirty-second yellow-tinted bridge between day and night. Blink and you miss it.

Duration
30 seconds

Night

Two minutes of darkness when plants can be stolen from plots, and the moon roll happens: most nights are normal, but Gold, Rainbow, Blood, and Mega moons each have a shot at replacing the plain sky.

The cycle

Days run seven and a half minutes, then a thirty-second sunset hands over to a two-minute night. Night is when plots become stealable and when the moon roll happens: most nights stay plain, but Gold (13 percent), Rainbow (6), Blood (2), and Mega (2) moons can take over the sky.

Playing the weather

  • Rain is the workhorse: double growth speed and revived plants. Time big plantings so they ride a rain window.
  • Mutation weathers (Lightning, Snowfall, Starfall, Aurora, Sunburst) can strike random crops with their mutation. The play is having valuable crops planted and unharvested when they roll, since a mutation multiplies value.
  • A crop holds one weather mutation at a time, so a second strike replaces rather than stacks.
  • Eclipse is the exception to randomness: harvesting an Eclipse Bloom summons it on demand, making it the one mutation weather you can schedule.

Moon economics

Gold and Rainbow moons drop their special seeds only with at least two players in the server, and seed spawn odds scale with server population. Fuller servers literally get better moons, which is a real argument against farming in an empty private server during night cycles.

FAQ

Q.

What does Rain do in Grow a Garden 2?

Rain doubles growth speed for every plant and revives wilted ones for five minutes. It is the most common event weather, so planning plantings around rain windows is the easiest weather value there is.

Q.

How do weather mutations work?

Mutation weathers like Lightning or Snowfall can strike random planted crops and apply their mutation, which raises the crop's value. A crop can hold only one weather mutation at a time, and crops must be unharvested to be hit.

Q.

How do you trigger an Eclipse?

Harvest an Eclipse Bloom. It is the only weather players can summon; everything else rolls randomly on the server's shared forecast.

Q.

What are the moon chances at night?

Each night rolls Normal at 77 percent, Gold Moon at 13, Rainbow Moon at 6, and Blood Moon and Mega Moon at 2 each. The Harvest Moon exists separately in the Fall Harvest world.

Q.

Why are no gold or rainbow seeds spawning for me?

Those seeds need at least two players in the server, and spawn odds rise with player count. A solo private server during a Gold or Rainbow Moon produces nothing.
