Far Far West is a co-op shooter where you lead a crew of robot cowboys on bounty-hunting missions, and every mission takes place on one of the game's maps. Each map is a different stretch of the frontier with its own terrain, mechanics, quests and secrets. The starting maps are open from the first run, and the rest unlock as you move through the game's questlines.

What Are the Maps in Far Far West?
Every mission has three parts: a main objective, a bounty boss and a map. The map is where the mission happens, and each one has a fixed layout with its own terrain, mechanics, quests and secrets. Finishing the main objective lets you summon the bounty boss at the boss spawner, and beating the boss opens up extraction.
What changes from run to run is where things sit inside the map. The arrival point, the main objective, the boss spawner, the extraction point and various points of interest are all placed at random. So a map you know well can still feel a little different each time you drop in. You head out on a mission by talking to the Trackman, and the Saloon in town is where you gear up between runs.
Which Maps Are Open From the Start
Far West, Desert and Canyon are open from the first run, along with all of their main objectives and bounty bosses. That makes them the ground you learn on, and they introduce the game's core mechanics before the harder maps come into play. Quests on these maps also open the way to the rest of the game's maps.
The Full Unlock Order for Far Far West Maps
Every map beyond the starting ones stays locked until you finish a questline, which is a chain of quests given by characters around the world. Some maps sit behind others, so you can't skip ahead. The order goes like this:
- Far West, Desert and Canyon: open from the start.
- Woodlands: finish Willy Billy's "To the Woodlands We Go!" questline on Far West.
- Redwood: finish Lady Granny's "Granny's gotta get paid" questline on Woodlands. Redwood was added in the October 2026 update.
- Area 41: finish Dr. Spark-Twist's "The Great Marauder Secret" on Desert.
- Far Far North: recover the trainwreck black boxes on Far West, Canyon and Area 41.
- Jungle: finish the Trackman's "The Papa Marquette Files" on Far Far North.
- Hellfire: finish "Arizona Jones and the Temples of Doom" on Jungle.
Map Difficulty, Hero Graves and Secret Missions
Every map is rated Easy, Classic or Hard, which tells you how tough it is before you pick a run. That helps you choose a comfortable mission or a real test for your crew.
Most maps also hide 10 Hero Graves to release. They're a good reason to explore a map once the mission is done.
Most maps also have a secret mission, which rewards a Joker, an emote or a skin. A Joker is a perk that changes how you fight, while emotes and skins are cosmetic rewards that change how your robot cowboy looks and acts. They're worth doing because they add something to your run that the main missions don't.
FAQ
How do you unlock Hellfire?
Finish "Arizona Jones and the Temples of Doom" on Jungle. Hellfire sits at the far end of the chain, so you'll have worked through Desert, Area 41, Far Far North and Jungle before it opens.
How do you unlock Redwood?
Finish Lady Granny's "Granny's gotta get paid" questline on Woodlands. Woodlands itself opens after Willy Billy's "To the Woodlands We Go!" questline on Far West.
How do you unlock Jungle?
Jungle opens through The Papa Marquette Files, a questline from the Trackman on Far Far North. It's made up of three quests: The North Mirrors, The Frozen Snowmen and The Incomplete Logbook. Finishing them opens Jungle.
How do you unlock Far Far North?
Far Far North opens through a trainwreck questline. You recover the trainwreck black boxes on Far West, Canyon and Area 41, so Area 41 has to be open first. That means finishing Dr. Spark-Twist's "The Great Marauder Secret" on Desert.
Is Canyon harder than the other starting maps?
Yes. Canyon is rated Hard, while Far West and Desert are rated Easy. Area 41, which you unlock later, is also rated Hard.
