All 7 Zones and How to Reach Them in CONTROL Resonant

Updated on November 1, 2026 (3 days ago)

In CONTROL Resonant, Manhattan is split into zones, from the Downtown streets around the Oldest House to the floating structures of the Unknown. Each zone works like its own district of the city, with its own hazards, side activities and Map Kit to reveal it. They open at different points in the story, and knowing what each one offers helps you decide where to go next.

Region

Downtown

1 items

Downtown

The opening district around the Oldest House, where the first Map Kit teaches the Sensor-and-Pylon routine.

Access Order
1 · Opening area
How to Reach It
The opening tutorial area. The Mapping the New New York quest begins beside the central Pylon with Maintenance Worker Thorne.
Key Landmarks
The Oldest House; The Chasm; Auction House; the fenced basketball court and its nearby Fast Travel Door.
FBC Map Kit Route
Pylon: near the center of the opening streets. Sensor 1: north rooftop below the “Velocity You Can Trust” sign. Sensor 2: northeast, beside a rusted water tower, green table, and three stacked spotlights. Sensor 3: southeast in the fenced basketball court beside the first Fast Travel Door. Return to the Pylon and activate it after all three Sensors turn green.

Region

Central

1 items

Central

The early surface junction built around the FBC Field Office and Watchtower.

Access Order
2 · After the Downtown checkpoint
How to Reach It
Follow the main route from Downtown after the Downtown checkpoint opens. Central becomes the early surface junction for routes to the east, west, and north.
Key Landmarks
FBC Field Office; Watchtower; Sinkhole; Verconn building; the main plaza and orange portable-office containers.
FBC Map Kit Route
Pylon: on an orange portable-office roof on the west side of the main plaza, north of the Downtown checkpoint. Sensor 1: north of the Pylon on blue portable-office containers. Sensor 2: northeast by the Verconn building entrance on orange containers. Sensor 3: east on a lone blue container beside yellow balloons. Return to the orange office roof and activate the Pylon after all three Sensors turn green.

Region

Evacuation Zone

1 items

Evacuation Zone

An eastern district with rain-dark streets, an evacuation site, and the Sinkhole.

Access Order
3 · East branch from Central
How to Reach It
Take the east-side route out of Central after the Downtown checkpoint opens. The surface region is reached before the later Sinkhole descent into the separate Underpass.
Key Landmarks
Evac Building; Sinkhole; Railyard Street Station; Main Street; the rooftop Fast Travel Door and yellow parachute landmark.
FBC Map Kit Route
Pylon: on a rooftop south of Main Street beside a Fast Travel Door. Sensor 1: on the roof across the street north of the Pylon and door. Sensor 2: a short hop east of the Pylon and door. Sensor 3: southwest across the southern street, on a rooftop by a “Velocity You Can Trust” sign. Use the yellow parachute on a nearby building as a reference. Return to the central rooftop and activate the Pylon after all three Sensors turn green.

Region

West Incursion Zone

1 items

West Incursion Zone

A west-side district where Patterning folds streets and changes which surfaces are usable.

Access Order
3 · West branch from Central
How to Reach It
Take the west-side route out of Central. Its folded streets and altered gravity can make the direct map line misleading, so follow the route that current story progress and traversal abilities allow.
Key Landmarks
House of Mirrors theater; town square; the Patterned Area sign; Atlantis and The Badger shops; streets that fold or turn vertical.
FBC Map Kit Route
Pylon: in the town square across the road from the House of Mirrors. Clear the Hiss Transporter variant guarding the square before calibrating. Sensor 1: southwest corner of the square, west of the theater by the “Patterned Area” sign. Sensor 2: eastern street corner near the theater, visible from Sensor 1. Sensor 3: northeast of the Pylon in the vertical street near Atlantis and The Badger. Return to the square and activate the Pylon after all three Sensors turn green.

Region

The Park

1 items

The Park

A Mold-covered branch north of Central, with surface streets and sewer routes.

Access Order
4 · After the Evacuation Zone Jesse Sighting quest
How to Reach It
The Park opens after the Evacuation Zone Jesse Sighting quest, The Subway Fault. Reach it from the northern side of the Central junction; Mold and sewer routes can block the most direct path to objectives.
Key Landmarks
Park Valley Fast Travel Door; Mold Factory; central Mold-covered rooftop; Mold-filled ditch; sewer connections; the neon “Bar” sign.
FBC Map Kit Route
Pylon: on the central rooftop among the larger Spore Mothers; use the Park Valley Fast Travel Door on the west edge as your anchor. Sensor 1: northwest of the Pylon on a rooftop; from the door, head northeast. Sensor 2: north of the Pylon at ground level in a Mold-filled ditch between a small building and a high-rise. Sensor 3: drop from the Pylon roof and head southwest to the graffiti-marked building near the neon “Bar” sign. Return to the central rooftop and activate the Pylon after all three Sensors turn green.

Region

Underpass

1 items

Underpass

A later underground region beneath the Sinkhole, with tall drops and research sites.

Access Order
5 · Second descent into the Sinkhole
How to Reach It
Later story progress sends Dylan down the Sinkhole for a second time. Underpass is a distinct subterranean region, not another floor of the Evacuation Zone; later crossings use Reach.
Key Landmarks
The Spire; Research Stations; Deepest Underpass; white-lit fast-travel spire; floating columns around the central platform.
FBC Map Kit Route
Pylon: on the stepped central platform below the main entrance area. First reach the large white-lit Spire and activate its Fast Travel Door; look southeast over the ledge to spot the kit. Sensor 1: atop the north column. Sensor 2: atop the east column. Sensor 3: atop the south column. Clear the nearby Hiss, then drop to the central platform and activate the Pylon after all three Sensors turn green.

Region

Unknown

1 items

Unknown

A late-game region of floating, inverted buildings where gravity changes how routes connect.

Access Order
6 · Late-story elevator access
How to Reach It
Reach this late-story region through the elevator route in the Oldest House; there is no street entrance from Manhattan. The floating structures become easier to cross as story progress opens the traversal route.
Key Landmarks
Floating, inverted city structures; the tall central building; Oldest House rooftop; Evac Building island; HOTEL sign; Patterned Field Office.
FBC Map Kit Route
Entry and Pylon: after the elevator, open Pope’s supply balloon and place two probes in the rough red circles at opposite ends of the starting area to create a Reach platform. Cross to the building cluster below; the Pylon is on a tall central roof about halfway down. Sensor 1: cross to the red-brick building marked “Yo,” then keep right to the nearby roof. Sensor 2: hanging from a roof above the Pylon; use Reach to flip orientation and look across the street for the white-brick building and red “Bus Only” sign. Sensor 3: level with the Pylon, near bright white floodlights and a deflated yellow balloon, with a view of the Oldest House roof. Return to the high floating roof and activate the Pylon after all three Sensors turn green.

What Are the Zones in CONTROL Resonant?

The zones are the big districts that make up Manhattan in CONTROL Resonant. Each one has its own main missions, side activities, World Feats and optional finds, so every zone has plenty to do.

They look so different because each part of the city has been warped in its own way. Mold has overrun The Park, the Hiss holds the Evacuation Zone, and gravity folds the streets of the West Incursion Zone. Each zone poses a different problem, so a route that works in one place can fail in another.

How Do You Move Between Zones and Reveal Their Maps?

Central is the hub that links the surface zones. The West Incursion Zone branches off to the west, the Evacuation Zone to the east, and The Park to the north. Fast Travel Doors link zones quickly once you've found them, so open the ones near your main objectives first.

Walking into a zone doesn't reveal its map. Each zone has an FBC Map Kit made of a central Pylon and three Sensors. Calibrate all three Sensors, go back to the Pylon and activate it, and the zone's map is revealed. Starting at the Pylon is a good habit, since it shows where the kit is.

Which Zones Open First, and What Keeps Some Areas Locked?

The story takes you from Downtown to Central first. Once Central opens up, the Evacuation Zone and the West Incursion Zone can be tackled in a loose order, and The Park follows the Evacuation Zone quest The Subway Fault. The Underpass comes later, when the story sends Dylan down the Sinkhole a second time, and the Unknown is a late-story zone you reach by elevator from the Oldest House.

Some areas stay locked until you have the right movement ability. Shift comes from the Incursion Fault and lets Dylan walk on rotated surfaces in altered gravity. Reach comes from the Subway Fault and opens routes across gaps and broken buildings. A revealed map doesn't mean a route is open, so if you can't reach a marker, a missing ability or story step is usually why.

How Do Resonant Fights Change Every Zone?

Every zone except the Evacuation Zone holds a Resonant, a powerful enemy at the end of its own route. Each Resonant you defeat gives Dylan a new combat ability and starts a new Resonant Cycle.

Each Cycle makes the city harder. Enemies come back tougher and World Feats refresh at a higher level, so zones you've already cleared don't stay easy. That's why it's worth finishing the side activities you want in a zone before you take on the next Resonant.

Which CONTROL Resonant Zones Matter Most?

Central matters most early, since it's the junction for every surface route and home to the FBC Field Office. Downtown matters because the story opens there, around the Oldest House, and its Map Kit teaches the Sensor and Pylon routine you'll repeat everywhere.

The West Incursion Zone and the Evacuation Zone matter for getting around, since they hold the quests that give Dylan Shift and Reach. The Park is a detour with its own Resonant, so it's easy to leave until later. The Underpass and the Unknown come late, and their routes lean hardest on the movement abilities you've gathered.

FAQ

Q.

Which zone in CONTROL Resonant has no Resonant?

The Evacuation Zone. Every other zone, from Downtown to the Unknown, has a Resonant fight at the end of its own route.

Q.

Can you go back to earlier zones after clearing them?

Yes, but check enemy levels first. A level shown in red means the fight is well above your current Build Power, so raise your build before heading back in.

Q.

How do you open the Collective's gate in The Park?

Eat the four Mold strains at the Café, the Minimart, the Pizzeria and the Gym, then return to the Mold Gate below the central sinkhole. You'll need Reach and Shift to get around The Park first.
