You fight the Hiss with a Service Weapon that changes shape in Control, the first game in an action-adventure series from Remedy Entertainment. The original Control (2019) follows Jesse Faden, who arrives at the Oldest House, the New York headquarters of the secret Federal Bureau of Control, to search for her missing brother and finds the building taken over by the Hiss, an otherworldly force. The sequel, CONTROL Resonant, launched on September 24, 2026, and follows her brother Dylan through a warped Manhattan.
A typical session is spent exploring a strange, shifting space and fighting whatever lives there. In Control, the Service Weapon changes shape to suit each enemy, and Objects of Power, ordinary items charged with energy from another dimension, give Jesse new abilities such as Launch and Levitate. In CONTROL Resonant, Dylan fights up close with the Aberrant, a shapeshifting melee weapon, dodging to avoid hits and using Executions to finish off enemies once their Falter gauge is full. Each new power or weapon form changes how you handle the next fight, so it pays to explore.
Your long-term goal is to grow stronger while pushing back the supernatural threat. In Control, you earn Ability Points and build mods to shape your build, and in CONTROL Resonant, defeating the boss creatures called Resonants unlocks new combat abilities. Side quests and hidden areas are worth your time in both games, since they add story and rewards.

Control gameplay tips
- In Control, launch an object before you shoot. Launch hurls a nearby object at an enemy and hits hard, especially when the object explodes.
- In Control, use Levitate to fight from above. Floating lifts Jesse over obstacles and gives her a clear view of incoming attacks, which makes crowded rooms much easier to read.
- In CONTROL Resonant, mix your attacks instead of repeating one. Secondary attacks and Combo Finishers restore much more Power than basic attacks, so spamming the Primary attack drains your ability options fast.
- Practice dodge timing early in CONTROL Resonant. A Perfect Dodge slows time and grants Retaliation, and the Perfect Dodge Talent turns that into a 50% boost to your next attack's Damage and Falter. The two games use different combat systems, so don't assume your Control habits carry over.
