Bellwright is a medieval survival game where you build a camp and win over the people around you. Its village capitals are the main villages that act as hubs for the settlements nearby. Each one is where you find recruits, build your standing with the locals and, in time, start a rebellion to free the village.

What Village Capitals Are in Bellwright
A village capital is the main village for a group of nearby territories. It's where the local elders, merchants and quest givers are based, and where you find the Villagers for Hire list. Most of the workers you can recruit come from these capitals, so they're the first place to look when you need more hands. Each capital also keeps its own relationship with you, so helping one village doesn't automatically win over the next.
How Trust Works in Each Village Capital
Trust is your relationship with one village, and every capital tracks its own. It rises as you help the locals with their problems, such as laying traps, hunting the wolves that threaten them, delivering supplies they ask for, and finishing their requests. Trust moves through ranks from Stranger to Associate, Friend and then Protector. Higher Trust gives you a better pool of villagers to hire, and freeing the village opens up its apprentices.
How to Recruit Villagers From a Village Capital
Open the map, select a capital's icon, and check its overview for the Villagers for Hire list. Each recruit needs enough Trust with that village, enough Renown to pay their price, and basic needs such as food or a bed or shelter. Renown is the currency for hiring, and you earn it by progressing your rebellion, including finishing quests and defeating bandits. Once they join, villagers take on a role as a Worker, Companion or Guard. Hired villagers are replaced over time, so the list keeps changing.
Where Each Bellwright Village Capital Is
Haerndean, Padstow, Bradford, Farnworth and Horndean sit in the Lowlands, the starting region. Crasmere is on the Saltbite Coast, a high-threat coastal area of Karvenia. Blackridgepool is in Wingman's Pass, a mountain region generally seen as more dangerous than the early Lowlands. The map rates each area by threat tier, from Tier 1 in Haerndean up to Tier 4 for Crasmere and Blackridgepool, so the areas you reach first are the gentlest.
Which Village Capitals Matter Most
Haerndean matters first, since it's your starting capital and the opening quest sends you there. Later on, Crasmere and Blackridgepool carry the most weight, because their Tier 4 areas are the hardest to hold and need a well-equipped squad before you push in.
How to Liberate a Village Capital
Liberation is how a village breaks free from the brigands who hold it, and it's one of the biggest steps in the game. You need to reach Protector standing, which takes 1,200 Trust, before you can research the Belltower and build it. Building the tower doesn't start the fight, though. Ringing the bell does, so wait until your squad is at full strength and standing in the village. That brings a Reclamation Party, and beating it is what secures the village.
FAQ
Should I raise Trust in every village capital at once?
It's better to focus on one area at a time. Spreading your effort across every village leaves you with little Trust anywhere, and you won't have enough standing in any one of them to hire well or start a liberation.
What happens after you liberate a village in Bellwright?
The village's standing with you becomes Leader, and it grows through Prosperity instead of Trust. Attacks to retake it can come back from time to time, so you'll need to defend the village yourself or build up its prosperity so it can hold its own.
Why do Haerndean and Horndean get mixed up?
Their names are close, but they're two separate capitals that sit far apart. Check the name on the map before you travel, since heading to the wrong one can waste real in-game time.
