Assetto Corsa is a racing simulator, and its tracks are the places where you do all your driving. They range from real circuits from around the world to fictional venues built around a setting or a style of driving, such as drag racing or drifting. Some tracks come with the base game, some arrived later as free updates, and others come in extra DLC packs.

Real Circuits and Fictional Venues
Most tracks in Assetto Corsa are real circuits from around the world. The rest are fictional venues: some take a real region as their setting, and others are built for one particular kind of driving rather than copying a real place. Tracks added through mods are a different thing and are not part of the official lineup.
How Assetto Corsa Track Layouts Work
A track in Assetto Corsa is really two things: the venue, which is the place, and the layout, which is the particular route you drive there. Some venues offer a single layout, while others give you a choice. Each layout is a separate option, and picking a different one can change the route you drive.
Some layouts are different lengths of the same site, like the extended, classic and club circuits at Vallelunga. Others are historic, like the 1966 layouts at Monza, and Silverstone has a separate historic 1967 version alongside its modern configurations. Some layouts also change the route shape rather than only the length, so the same venue can feel quite different depending on which you pick.
Assetto Corsa Base Game Tracks
The base game is the set you get from the start, and its real venues are all in Europe. Italy is especially well represented, with Imola, Mugello, Magione, Vallelunga and Monza all included, while Silverstone and the Nürburgring GP bring the UK and Germany into the mix.
The venues have very different personalities. Mugello is fast and flowing, Magione is compact, and Spa-Francorchamps winds through the Ardennes in Belgium.
The Nürburgring GP is a modern Grand Prix complex, separate from the Nordschleife. If you are new to the game, the base game venues are a good place to get a feel for driving before you add any packs.
Assetto Corsa Free Update Tracks
Some venues came after launch as free updates, and they sit in the base game's roster without a separate pack. Laguna Seca, Zandvoort, Black Cat County and Highlands all arrived this way.
Laguna Seca is a California road course with a steep section called the Corkscrew, and Zandvoort is a seaside circuit on the Dutch coast. These are real venues, and Laguna Seca also takes the roster beyond Europe.
Black Cat County and Highlands are fictional venues that came later, with Black Cat County arriving in update 1.5 and Highlands in update 1.12. Black Cat County is a desert road course with a U.S. setting, and Highlands is inspired by the Scottish Highlands. They are useful if you want a change of scenery from the real-world circuits.
Dream Pack and Red Pack Tracks
Dream Pack 1 adds the fabled Nürburgring Nordschleife, which you can drive on its own or in its endurance layouts. You need that pack to drive it at all.
Dream Pack 2 adds Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, the Catalan circuit in Spain, with Grand Prix and Moto layouts. Dream Pack 3 brings Brands Hatch in Kent, which comes in a Grand Prix layout and a shorter Indy version.
The Red Pack adds the Red Bull Ring in Austria, with Grand Prix and National layouts. All of these venues are real circuits, and each one sits behind its own pack.
Drift and Drag Venues
The Drag Strip and Drift Track are built for specific kinds of driving rather than ordinary circuit racing. The Drag Strip is a straight-line venue for drag racing, with distance options from a short 200 meters up to 2000 meters. The Drift Track is made for drift events.
The game includes drift mode and drag racing among its driving modes, and these venues are built for exactly those. Highlands also has a drift route, so drifting isn't limited to the Drift Track.
The Tracks Worth Trying First in Assetto Corsa
If you only want the famous names, start with Spa-Francorchamps, the Nürburgring Nordschleife and Laguna Seca. They are some of the best-known circuits in racing, which makes them a natural starting point.
After that, it depends on what you want from the game. If you like variety, mix the real circuits from the base game with the Drag Strip or Drift Track for a change of pace. If you want something different from real-world tracks, Black Cat County and Highlands give you fictional roads to explore.
FAQ
Are the tracks in Assetto Corsa based on real places?
Most of them are. The real circuits were laser-scanned, so the bumps, curbs and small blemishes on their surfaces show up in the game as they do in real life.
How do I pick a track in Assetto Corsa?
You choose the track as part of a Practice, Hotlap, race or other driving session. The venue and layout are picked as you set up that session.
Is there a hill climb in Assetto Corsa?
Yes. Trento-Bondone is a point-to-point hill climb running from Trento toward Monte Bondone, so it climbs rather than looping around a circuit. Its layout is simply called Hill Climb.
