How to use Roblox emote commands

Open chat in a Roblox experience, enter a command such as /e wave, and send it. Include the space after /e. For the other default dances, enter /e dance2 or /e dance3.

These commands come from Roblox Support’s default emote list. Their appearance can vary with your avatar and the experience’s animations.

Why a Roblox emote command may not work

Chat commands need access to in-experience chat. If you cannot send chat messages, typing an emote command is not an available way to play the action.

Experiences can also change how character animations and emotes work. Check the experience’s controls or try the command in another experience. A hidden emote menu does not by itself mean chat commands are disabled: Roblox lets developers control those features separately.

Are Marketplace emotes the same as default commands?

Marketplace emotes are additional avatar animations you get or buy. Their item IDs identify Roblox listings; they are not chat commands. Putting /e before an item ID does not activate the item.

Find those listings in Roblox emote IDs. Owning an additional emote does not make its name a universally supported command in every experience. The default commands above are the ones explicitly listed by Roblox Support.
