Steal an Egg races start every 30 minutes, and the race portal can spawn in a different biome each time. Watch the announcement tab to see where it is. A first-place finish pays 1 Win and 2,500 Trophies, and every first-place win moves you along the Win Pass.
The Racing Event is part of the Mount Update, so this guide also covers turning a pet into a racing mount.
How to Join a Steal an Egg Race
Joining takes four steps:
- Stay in the server. You must be in the server to take part.
- Check the announcement tab for the biome where the race portal has spawned. The biome can change, so check every time.
- Enter the race portal in that biome.
- Finish the three-lap race. Win it to count toward the Win Pass.
There's no minimum Speed to enter, so you can join with the Ostrich you start with.
What Happens Once the Race Starts
Each race is three laps, and you ride a pet during it. The track is built around boosts, pickups and obstacles, and your goal is to stay ahead of your opponents.
Speed Boost Tracks and Power-Ups
Run over a Speed Boost Track for a short burst of speed. Power-Ups are the pickups to collect. A Power-Up can help your racer or place an obstacle in an opponent's path. Steer around the obstacles on the track, since they work against you.
The Ostrich Racer and Wins Upgrades
Every player starts with the Ostrich as their base Racer. You upgrade it with Wins, so every first-place finish also helps your Racer. Check the upgrade card before you spend Wins.
Racing Event Win Pass Rewards
The Win Pass has 14 milestones, from 1 Win to 35 Wins. Five of them unlock exclusive pets, each one an egg and a matching Racer. The rest are Trophy payouts. Taking part also earns some Trophies, but the amount for finishes other than first isn't confirmed, so plan around the first-place payout.
| Wins | Reward |
|---|---|
| 1 | Seahorse Egg and Seahorse Racer |
| 3 | 475 Trophies |
| 5 | Lizard Egg and Lizard Racer |
| 7 | 475 Trophies |
| 10 | 625 Trophies |
| 12 | 625 Trophies |
| 15 | Bird Egg and Bird Racer |
| 17 | 845 Trophies |
| 19 | 845 Trophies |
| 21 | Cheetah Egg and Cheetah Racer |
| 24 | 1,250 Trophies |
| 27 | 1,250 Trophies |
| 30 | Snail Egg and Snail Racer |
| 35 | 1,250 Trophies |
The pet rewards are at 1, 5, 15, 21 and 30 Wins, and the final reward is at 35. Claim each reward shown when you reach its threshold. Each first-place finish gives 1 Win, so reaching 35 Wins takes 35 first-place finishes.
Steal an Egg Racing Event Shop Prices
Trophies buy five items in the event shop. The sixth, 2x Trophies, costs Robux.

| Item | Cost | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Nitro Mutation | 475 Trophies | Shows a 10% chance. Check the card for what the chance applies to. |
| 2x Cash Booster | 275 Trophies | Lasts 10 minutes |
| 1.25x Speed | 375 Trophies | Lasts 5 minutes |
| 2x Treadmill Booster | 375 Trophies | Lasts 10 minutes |
| Racing Bat | 10,000 Trophies | Permanent |
| 2x Trophies | 299 or 200 Robux | Doubles Trophies. Use the price shown on your live shop card. |
The 1.25x Speed booster lasts half as long as the two 10-minute boosters, so buy it when you're about to race.
The Racing Bat costs 10,000 Trophies. At 2,500 Trophies per first-place finish, that's four first-place finishes. Its effect isn't confirmed, so check its card before you save up for it.
The Nitro Mutation is a consumable. For how mutations work in general, see the Steal an Egg Mutations Guide.
How to Turn a Pet Into a Racing Mount
Racing doesn't require a mount. Every player starts with the Ostrich as their Racer. A mount is optional: it's one of your own pets, turned into a racing mount. The conversion uses a Shooting Star, which the update also calls a Mount Star.
Where to Get Shooting Stars
Shooting Stars come from two places.
- Free drop: Shooting Stars have a rare chance to fall during an in-game night. You have to have been in that server from the start of the in-game day to get it. Server hopping won't help.
- Stellaris the Star Handler: Stellaris sells Shooting Stars at Spawn for Robux, in bundles of 1, 3 or 5. The weekly limit is five, and it resets every Saturday, so a five-star bundle uses the whole week. Check the Robux price when you talk to Stellaris.
Turning a Pet Into a Mount
- Get a Shooting Star from the free drop or Stellaris.
- Select the Shooting Star in your hotbar.
- Walk up to the pet you want to convert and use the Feed Star prompt beside it.
- The pet becomes a mount, and the Shooting Star is used up.

Each mount uses one Shooting Star, and the change can't be undone, so pick the pet carefully. Turning your best pet into a mount won't give it extra Speed, so there's no speed bonus to chase.
How Long the Racing Event Lasts
The Racing Event may only run for a week, so check the event screen while it's open.
If you're choosing where to start, race for the Win Pass while the event is up, and hold your Shooting Stars until you know which pet you'd want as a mount.
