Dreadscale hatches from the limited Monster Egg in Steal An Egg. You can buy the egg from the Shop or earn a Monster Chest roll by feeding the Hungry Monster five Infested Eggs. The current Update 2 snapshot lists Dreadscale at 0.5% in the egg's base pool, so the free route takes patience and a little egg detective work.
Get the Monster Egg from the Shop or Hungry Monster
The Shop snapshot shows one Monster Egg for 39 Robux. Check the live Shop card before buying because limited-event prices can change.
For the no-Robux route, use the Hungry Monster event:
Feed the Hungry Monster five Infested Eggs
- Search Snow and later areas. Look for an Infested Egg with a purple parasite visible on it. Use the live event prompt if the eligible areas change.
- Pick up or steal the Infested Egg. Carry it back to the Safe Zone.
- Find the Hungry Monster. The frog-like NPC is near the Safe Zone, around the Sell Shop and Fuse Machine area.
- Use
Feed Parasite. Hold the infested egg near the NPC and choose the matching prompt. - Repeat the feed five times. Each egg adds 20% to the meter. At 100%, claim the Monster Chest.

Only use an egg with the purple parasite marker, and confirm the Feed Parasite prompt before handing it over. The NPC also has View Rewards, so you can check the chest pool before starting the hunt.
Check the Monster Chest rewards
The chest can give you one of these outcomes:

| Reward | Chance | Duration or use |
|---|---|---|
| 1.25x Egg Growth | 43.5% | 5 minutes |
| 1.25x Speed | 30% | 5 minutes |
| 2x Treadmill Speed | 20% | 5 minutes |
| Flyswatter | 5% | Item |
| Monstrous Egg | 1.5% | Hatch the limited pet pool |
The Monstrous Egg is the only chest outcome that leads to Dreadscale. At the August 31, 2026 snapshot, the event window was August 29 to September 5, 2026. Check the in-game countdown before grinding because limited events can move.
Dreadscale has a 0.5% hatch chance
Dreadscale is the Divine result in the Monster Egg's six-pet base pool. The Shop card shows the pool, the separate Mecha roll, and the one-egg price in the same panel.

These are the displayed base-pet rates for the current snapshot:
| Pet | Rarity | Displayed base chance |
|---|---|---|
| Scorpio | Legendary | 39% |
| Froggo | Mythic | 24% |
| Crawler | Cosmic | 18% |
| Crocodon | Secret | 11% |
| Krakenoid | Eternal | 6.5% |
| Dreadscale | Divine | 0.5% |
The six base-pet percentages add to 99%; the separate 1% Mecha roll is shown apart from this list. Treat these numbers as a current event snapshot and recheck the live egg card after an update.
You may see the limited egg called Monster Egg or Monstrous Egg. Both names refer to the same six-pet event egg here, which the current event snapshot also labels with the Monstrous mutation. Follow the name shown in your live Shop or event screen if the wording changes.
Mecha Dreadscale uses the 1% Mecha roll
The Monster Egg shows a separate 1% Mecha re-roll or variant chance. It is listed apart from Dreadscale's 0.5% base-pool chance, so do not multiply the two numbers and treat the result as a guaranteed Mecha Dreadscale rate.
After a hatch, inspect the pet card for the Mecha label and its current income. Pet size, mutation, and active multipliers can change earnings, so a fixed $8 billion/s value is not guaranteed.
For the wider mutation rules, Steal An Egg mutation rules help you identify what changed on the pet card. If you are chasing more limited eggs, the Sakura Incubator route covers another update path.
