14 Best Open-World RPGs on Roblox

Updated on August 31, 2026 (22 days ago)

Open-world RPGs work when the map changes what you do next. A new island should lead to a quest, a boss, a better weapon, a class choice, a creature to raise, or a route worth learning. I used that test here instead of treating every social roleplay game or dungeon lobby as an RPG. These 14 picks cover the War Seas, hand-built islands, pirate routes, a frontier sandbox, creature stories, connected turn-based regions, and a 2D bullet-hell world.

Some are easy to recommend to a new player. Others are deliberately harder, paid, event-driven, licensed, beta, or alpha. The order is editorial, not a live popularity chart. Start with the kind of progression you want to repeat.

1. Arcane Odyssey

Arcane Odyssey is the clearest all-round match for this list. You start on Dawn Island, pick up the early story around Morden, take a rowboat, and work toward Redwake before the War Seas begin opening up. Around level 10, a Sailboat turns the map into a real travel problem. Islands, side quests, chests, underwater pickups, bosses, dungeons, and the main story give sailing a purpose.

Your build grows through magic, weapons, fighting styles, stats, gear, and faction choices, while later Dark Sea trips add risky generated exploration. There is more here than the first-hour route, but the game asks for a desktop setup. The official page says keyboard and mouse are required and recommends at least 6 GB of RAM. PvP, clans, island capture, and dense systems can make the world less relaxing than its bright fantasy art suggests. I would start here on a capable computer, not a phone.

2. Pilgrammed

Pilgrammed tells you exactly what it is. The official description calls it an open-world RPG, and the game backs that up with a hand-built island, movement-led exploration, precise combat, bosses, and craftable guns and armor. Early quests teach the light and heavy attack rhythm, blocking, parrying, dodging, and movement upgrades such as Dash and Climb. The route itself becomes something to learn because new mobility changes which cliffs, caves, and enemies you can reach.

Pilgrammed asks you to practice instead of mash. Rebirth, equipment choices, reforges, fishing, and boss attempts give repeat runs a reason to exist, but the first hour can be rough if you want a soft onboarding. The official experience warns about flashing lights and screen shake. Its Roblox title carried the Early Sunset / Ex Machina update labels at the research check, and those labels can change. Keyboard controls are documented, while mobile and controller parity was not confirmed.

3. Deepwoken

Deepwoken is for the player who wants the world to push back. Its Lumen setting runs through hostile waters, towns, ruined sanctuaries, dungeons, and strange coastal spaces. You choose an origin, develop attributes, learn talents and mantras, equip weapons and armor, and make survival decisions while exploring. Parrying, blocking, dodging, positioning, and route knowledge matter as much as the character sheet.

The catch is enormous. Deepwoken costs 400 Robux to access, and permadeath can permanently end a character. PvP is part of the world, difficult content is safer with a group, and the game does not offer a forgiving solo route. The official page does not establish a full device matrix either, so keyboard and mouse are the safe assumption rather than a verified PC-only rule. Choose this one if learning a hard combat system sounds like the point, not an obstacle.

4. Blox Fruits

Blox Fruits is the broad sea-and-island answer. Choose Pirates or Marines, take island quests, fight named enemies and bosses, travel by boat, and decide whether your damage path leans on a Blox Fruit, sword, gun, or fighting style. The three-sea structure keeps the next destination visible, with level gates and new islands giving the long climb a simple shape.

It is a machine for producing the next goal, whether that is a quest, a fruit, a boss drop, or another sea. At the research check, the official page listed a level cap of 2,800, so expect a long grind rather than a compact adventure. The overworld route is practical alone, while raids, some bosses, trading, and PvP are better with other players.

5. Vesteria

Vesteria is the most recognizable classic MMORPG in the group. The opening carriage ride ends in Mushtown after a monster attack, then quests through the Mushroom Forest lead you toward Nilgarf and the first real class decision. Around level 10, you choose a Warrior, Hunter, or Mage path. Towns, distant regions, dungeons, bosses, gear, trade, and the player economy make the world feel built for a long character arc.

Overworld questing is possible alone, but some dungeon content is party-oriented, so this is not a promise of a fully solo MMO. Navigation between hubs and the economy add friction, especially if you are used to games that put every objective on the screen. The Roblox title included an [ANIMATIONS] prefix at the research check, which is the sort of update label that can change without changing the underlying game. Device support was not clearly verified, so desktop and keyboard are the safer assumption.

6. The Wild West

The Wild West earns its place by refusing to be another fantasy combat map. It is a continuous frontier with towns, wilderness, travel routes, mining, hunting, law work, outlaw activity, bounties, and robberies. Bronze City works as a useful service hub, but the game does not hand you a traditional class tree. You build a character through money, tools, weapons, map knowledge, and the occupation you keep choosing.

This is an open-world sandbox RPG, with roleplay and self-directed work carrying more weight than a formal quest campaign. Mining, hunting, exploration, and some bounty work can be solo, while heists and public-server conflict bring social risk. Private servers reduce loot and payout, according to the official warning, and cheating can lead to a permanent ban. Pick it when choosing a life in the frontier sounds better than following a fixed story route.

7. Loomian Legacy

Loomian Legacy takes the RPG formula down a route-based, turn-based path. In Roria, you begin at the Mitis Dig Site and Lab, choose a starter Loomian, travel through Mitis Town and Route 1, catch and train a team, and work toward Battle Theatre medals. Settlements, forests, routes, and story battles make the world feel like a journey even though it is a connected sequence of regions rather than a seamless sandbox.

Team levels, types, moves, new captures, breeding, training, trading, and later PvP carry the progression. The story route and Battle Theatres are mainly solo-friendly, but party management and type matchups slow the pace if you want instant action. Loomian Legacy is still in development. Guides at the research check reached Atlanthian City and its theatre, but that is not the same as a finished campaign.

8. Grand Piece Online

Grand Piece Online is a direct open-sea pirate RPG. You start in the Town of Beginnings, take a starter quest, fight bandits, earn money and levels, and work toward the next island. Fruits grant abilities, fighting styles and equipment shape the combat path, and bosses, rare drops, dungeons, fishing, chests, and PvP fill out the longer route.

The genre fit is strong, but the availability warning is serious. The official API snapshot on August 31, 2026 showed only about 16 active players, and a public server-list request was rate-limited, so multiplayer health was not confirmed. The official page lists PC, mobile, and controller support, though that does not prove equal control quality on every device. Expect a demanding early grind and do not assume a bustling sea or easy party matchmaking.

9. The Forge

The Forge makes mining part of the RPG rather than a side chore. You start in Stonewake's Cross, meet Sensei Moro, take a pickaxe into the first cave, mine ore, return to the forge, and sell or equip what you make. Later islands and caves bring rarer materials and tougher fights. Ore combinations, forge quality, runes, enhancements, weapons, and armor all feed the same character-power loop.

The official experience calls itself a beta RPG and simulation game, and that mixed identity is worth taking seriously. It is less story-led than Pilgrammed and less class-driven than Vesteria, but the crafting has a direct effect on combat. The early tutorial moves quickly through mining, ore value, forge quality, selling, gear, and fighting, which can be a lot.

10. Dragon Adventures

Dragon Adventures turns the character sheet into a creature. The Rodger-led tutorial gives you a home plot, a first egg, a bonding activity, and your first flight. From there, the World Teleporter sends you into fantasy regions where you can follow missions, collect resources and eggs, find hidden treasures, fly through the map, and fight ordinary enemies.

This is creature-first progression, not a conventional class or gear RPG. Dragon XP, growth, species collection, hatching, breeding, lair building, trading, skins, and events carry the long-term loop. The official page advertised more than 200 species at the research check, but that number can change. The worlds are region-based rather than one seamless map, and players who want constant combat or detailed class builds may find the system light.
