To breed Celestial Hydra in Catch And Tame, use Hydra and Cosmic Griffin as the parent pair. Celestial Hydra is a Mythic breed-only pet and one of the biggest late-game breeding targets because it is listed at 250 BPS before extra boosts.
For the full game hub, use the Catch And Tame wiki. For every known parent combo, the Catch And Tame breeding recipes list has the complete table.

The Celestial Hydra recipe is Hydra plus Cosmic Griffin
The direct recipe is simple, but the setup is not. You need these two parents ready first:
| Parent | Why you need it |
|---|---|
| Hydra | Required parent for Celestial Hydra. Hydra is itself a breed-only Mythic from Lightning Dragon and Cerberus. |
| Cosmic Griffin | Required parent for Celestial Hydra. It is tied to the Sky Island / Cosmic Zone route and Cosmic Shower context. |
Once both parents are available and off breeding cooldown, use the breeding or heart-combine option, select Hydra and Cosmic Griffin, then start the breed attempt. The listed chance is low, so treat Celestial Hydra as a repeat-attempt goal instead of something you should expect from one egg.
Make Hydra before you chase the final egg
Hydra is the parent that usually makes this route feel longer. Before the final Celestial Hydra attempt, breed Hydra from Lightning Dragon and Cerberus.
Lightning Dragon is tied to Dragon Island and Thunderstorm context, while Cerberus is tied to Forgotten Depths. If you are still collecting parent pets, the Catch And Tame pets list is the cleaner place to check pet location, rarity, BPS, and breed-only status without mixing every detail into this route.
After you have Lightning Dragon and Cerberus, use the same breeding flow: choose the two compatible parents, start the breed, wait for the egg, then hatch it in a Nursery or pen. Keep the Hydra you hatch because it becomes half of the Celestial Hydra recipe.
Get Cosmic Griffin ready before using Hydra
Cosmic Griffin is the other required parent. It is not a breed-only parent in the same way Hydra is, but it still takes preparation because it is tied to a late-game route and Cosmic Shower context.
If a Cosmic Shower window is available, use that time to work on Cosmic Griffin progress instead of spending the window on unrelated catches. The weather events page is useful here because weather changes what pets, mutations, and luck windows are worth planning around.
Do not use your only Cosmic Griffin carelessly. If the parent goes on cooldown, your final Celestial Hydra loop slows down. If you can keep spare parents ready, repeated attempts become much easier to manage.
Use Hydra and Cosmic Griffin for repeated Celestial Hydra attempts
When both parents are ready, run the final loop in a clean order:
- Make sure Hydra and Cosmic Griffin are not on breeding cooldown.
- Open the breeding or heart-combine option.
- Select Hydra and Cosmic Griffin as the pair.
- Start the breed attempt and wait for the egg.
- Hatch the egg in a Nursery when possible, or in your pen if that is what you have available.
- Repeat the route when the parents are off cooldown if the egg does not hatch Celestial Hydra.
The important part is patience. Celestial Hydra is a rare endgame result, so the route is about making more good attempts, not finding a hidden shortcut.
Use luck and trait help, but do not expect a guarantee
Aurora Borealis is the strongest broad luck window to watch for because it is listed with a 300% luck boost. If you can save serious egg-opening or hatching attempts for that weather, it is worth doing. A Nursery also helps because faster hatching means less waiting between attempts.
Traits can make the loop more efficient too. Breed Luck improves breeding luck, while Twin Eggs can give more egg output from a breed cycle. The Catch And Tame traits page is the better place to compare the full Trait Machine set, but for this route those two are the main breeding helpers.
Use those bonuses as support, not promises. Breed Luck, Twin Eggs, Aurora Borealis, and faster hatching can improve the process, but they do not make Celestial Hydra guaranteed.
The shortest route to remember
The whole Celestial Hydra route comes down to this order:
- Get Lightning Dragon and Cerberus.
- Breed them to make Hydra.
- Get Cosmic Griffin ready.
- Breed Hydra with Cosmic Griffin.
- Hatch the egg and repeat when cooldowns allow.
Do not fill your plan with every other breeding recipe unless it helps one of those steps. Celestial Hydra is a focused endgame chain: make Hydra first, keep Cosmic Griffin ready, and use your best luck and hatching windows for the final Hydra plus Cosmic Griffin attempts.
