Fisch Guide: How to Obtain Scavenger, Meteoric, and Rod of Singularity

Updated on August 25, 2026 (6 days ago)

Scavenger Rod, Meteoric Rod, and Rod of the Singularity come from three separate Astral Observatory-era quest paths in Fisch. Each one has a different starter, route, and final hand-in.

The Scavenger requirements and broad locations are clear. The Meteoric and Rod of the Singularity task rows are reported from the current v1.98 route information and may change as the update settles. Keep the live quest panel open while you farm, because its item names, counts, and conditions get the final say.

How to get the Scavenger Rod

Start Dr. Crookspine’s errands

Find Dr. Crookspine inside the Laboratory near Roslit Bay and start the Scavenger quest.

If you cannot find the Laboratory, use the live marker. Quest markers are less glamorous than memorizing a maze, but they do tend to win.

Complete the three hand-ins

Bring Dr. Crookspine the following items:

  1. Silver Rusty Bolts: Get 2 from the Mineshaft route.
  2. Scrap Metal: Get 5 in The Depths during daytime.
  3. Lunar String: Get 1 from Desolate Deep. Some task text may call the smaller route Desolate Pocket, so follow the wording in your quest panel.

Do not treat a specific rod, bait, mutation, or appraisal method as mandatory unless your current task says it is. The item and quantity are the part that matters.

Return to Dr. Crookspine

Take all three hand-ins back to Dr. Crookspine. Wait for the completion or unlock message before leaving the Laboratory.

If The Depths is new territory, the Fisch The Deep Rod guide gives you another reason to learn that route while you finish the Scrap Metal step.

How to get the Meteoric Rod

Start Astral Matthew’s Northern Expedition quest

Travel to Northern Expedition and speak with the Astral Observatory quest NPC. Current update naming can show Astral Matthew or Meteor Maniac Matthew, so use the name displayed above the NPC and in the quest panel.

The requirements below are reported for the two Meteoric quests. Check each active row before you begin, especially if the game uses a different event or material label.

Finish the first Meteoric quest

The first reported hand-in asks for:

  1. Cosmic Relic: Get 1.
  2. Moonstone: Get 1.
  3. Solar Blaze or Nova Frozen Walnut: Get 1 of either item.

Return to Matthew after the quest panel marks the first set complete. Do not swap the two final items unless the live task shows the same choice.

Finish the second Meteoric quest

The second reported task list is:

  1. Break 10 Fallen Meteors.
  2. Get 1 Quartz Glass from the Cryogenic Canal route.
  3. Get 5 Solar Blaze Stalactites.
  4. Get 1 each of Ruby, Amethyst, Opal, Lapis Lazuli, and Moonstone.

The Fallen Meteors and Solar Blaze materials can depend on the active Astral Observatory activity. Check the quest panel for the current condition instead of waiting on an event that your server is not asking for.

Return to Astral Matthew for the Meteoric Rod

Go back to Matthew after the second quest shows every row as complete. If the NPC name or a material name differs from the labels above, follow the live quest UI before handing anything over.

How to get the Rod of the Singularity

Complete the Abyssal Zenith starter request

Reach the Astral Cavern near the black-hole entrance in Abyssal Zenith and speak with the starter NPC. Use the active marker for the final approach if the entrance or route is not obvious.

The reported starter hand-in is:

  1. 1 Shiny or Sparkling Celestial Crowned Anglerfish.
  2. 1 Nova Hardened Glass.
  3. 12 Nova Gold Pieces.
  4. 12 Celestial Scrap Metal.

Turn the items in at the Abyssal Zenith NPC. The reward for this step is a Dyson Sphere, which you take to Merlin to begin the final part of the route.

Find Merlin’s five secret materials

The reported Merlin hand-in uses these five items:

  1. Stabilizer Core: Search the secret cavern in Abyssal Zenith.
  2. Unstable Crystal: Follow the Boreal Pines ice-lake or cave route.
  3. Umbral Matrix: The official spelling is Umbral Matrix, while some task text calls it Umbra Matrix. Use the live item label.
  4. Singularity Control Unit: Check the reported under-bridge route in Cryogenic Canal, then follow the marker if the entrance differs.
  5. Stellar Wiring: Search Snowcap. The reported condition for this step is a Blue Moon, so confirm it in the quest UI first.

The exact secret entrances are the least stable part of this route. Use the quest marker and the item label together. That saves you from carrying the right material to the wrong mysterious hole, which is a very Fisch problem.

Return to Merlin

Bring all five materials to Merlin after the Dyson Sphere step is active. Confirm the final reward prompt before you leave. The canonical item name is Rod of the Singularity, although some labels and route notes shorten it to Rod of Singularity.

For nearby Astral Observatory context, the Fisch Broken Star locations guide can help you plan related star-hunting routes.

Check the live quest UI when a label differs

Astral Observatory terminology is still uneven across the game and current route notes. Use these checks when something does not match:

  • Astral Matthew or Meteor Maniac Matthew: They refer to the Meteoric quest NPC. Use the name shown in your server.
  • Umbral Matrix or Umbra Matrix: Check the active item label before searching.
  • Rod of Singularity or Rod of the Singularity: The longer name is the canonical item form, but the live reward text takes priority.
  • Scavenger Rod or Scavenged: Scavenged is a separate mutation name, not a replacement for the rod.
  • Meteoric Rod or shooting-star code content: The rod quest is separate from unrelated code rewards or cosmetics.

If your quest panel shows a different quantity, location, or condition, follow it and treat the older route text as a lead only.

After you claim one of these rods, the all Fisch enchantments guide helps you choose a useful enchantment instead of letting the first glowing option make the decision for you. The Scalding Hook Rod guide is another nearby rare-rod route if you are still building your collection.

FAQ

Q.

Are Scavenger, Meteoric, and Rod of the Singularity one quest?

No. They are three separate quest paths with different starters: Dr. Crookspine, the Matthew NPC at Northern Expedition, and the Abyssal Zenith NPC followed by Merlin.

Q.

Why does Matthew have two names?

Current Fisch naming can show Astral Matthew or Meteor Maniac Matthew. Use the name displayed by your NPC and quest panel.

Q.

What should I do if my Meteoric or Singularity task is different?

Follow the live quest UI. Those task rows are reported from current route information and can use different labels, counts, or conditions as the update changes.

Q.

Is Rod of Singularity the same as Rod of the Singularity?

Yes. Rod of the Singularity is the canonical item name, while some quest text and route notes omit the word “the.”
